"The measure of life, is not its duration but its donation"
Peter Marshall
I'm back! One day later and I've already completed another step in my list of things to do before I die. People keep calling it a bucket list but I beg to differ. I don't plan on dying anytime soon so I'm not doing this list because I feel I've achieved nothing and haven't got long left. My main purpose was to make my life a hell of a lot more interesting. I think it's working!
100 :: Give old clothes to charity!
I cleared out my bedroom a couple of days ago and was thinking of just chucking all my old clothes out but what better way to put use of them than giving them to charity? I went down to the supermarket and gave them to the Salvation Army people.
I was talking with one of my friends today about giving away clothes and her aunt takes all her old clothes and gives them to kids on the street in Romania (she's Romanian)! I laughed but then, thinking about it, it's a good way to help people directly. The majority of our money that we give to charity doesn't reach where it should and usually goes to the corrupted government.
How much effort is it to give your clothes away instead of chucking them away? What's the point? It fills up your rubbish so why not do some good with them? There are plenty of people in the world who would kill for that new pair of primark jeans despite the fact we take it all for granted. Those Jimmy Choo's you're wearing? Some kids don't even have flip flops...
Personally, I feel it's an amazing feeling knowing that someone underpriviledged out there is going to use my hoody or my t-shirt to stay warm. I'm not going to use them so why not let someone else use them?
I feel good :)
