G r a v i t y - P a r t 2 : D a y d r e a m
After the trip to Taraka fountain concluded, the members set off to their biggest attraction yet - Tokyo Tower. It was as if this was the climax of their trip, and Jaejoong kept his eyes open no matter how fatigued he was feeling.
He had a few theories about what Yunho had wished for. He could’ve wished for Dong Bang Shin Ki’s success - if he was being considerate enough. However, there was the
possibility of him wishing for a pretty girlfriend- that is, if he was thinking selfishly. There were a few other theories as well, but those two appealed to him the most.
The group of curious travelers stepped onto the elevator as it took them into the sky. On the ride there, an intercom explained the tower’s origins and history, as if informing everyone about how magnificent it was. The members couldn’t understand a thing, so Da Young was offered the job to translate. After a short ride, the elevator stopped at a halt, as the group strolled off to observe the wondrous view.
“Wow…!” Changmin saw the cars and traffic below them. “The cars look like ants from up here!”
The seven tourists leaned against a wide window; they stared down at the city admiringly.
“How far exactly are we above ground?”
“About 300 meters…” Da Young explained. “That’s pretty high, right, Yunho?”
He gasped as he nodded back at her. “That’s kind of scary… if you think about it…”
She agreed as she continued to look down. The five had never imagined being in a place like this, but surprisingly, their career had allowed them to do so. Being a singer was a blessing and a curse, and this was one of the few blessings.
Junsu looked disappointed. “Too bad we can’t see this at night. “ He complained, gesturing his sadness to Sang Joon.
“I know… why couldn’t we have come here at night?” Yoochun questioned.
Sang Joon sighed. “We have a meeting tonight.” His happy and calm expression died as it was replaced by a frown. “A few Japanese artists along with your future Japanese songwriter, is coming to explain rules to the music industry here.”
“Yes.” it was Da Young’s voice. “And I plan to teach you guys a bit of Japanese.” She looked to Changmin in a playful manner. “…and… there will be lots of food and desserts of course! So you better not miss out!”
Everyone sighed except for the excited Changmin. The hopes of living in a non-working environment was crushed immediately. The members knew it was way too early to get their hopes up.
“The view is beautiful…” Whispered Yunho when the group was prepared to leave. It was a shame, the beautiful city was immediately swallowed up by the thought of work and labor.
Everyone was extremely silent and inaudible in the car on the ride back to the hotel. The sun was setting in the west, and the sky looked as if it was tinted with blood.
Just when the members were about to return to their rooms, Sang Joon made an important announcement for all to hear.
“Don’t ever think of sneaking out.” He notified the group of tired faces. “If we catch you, you’ll be dead.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.”
The members replied in unison. They already knew the rules, but that didn’t mean they liked them. Instead, the five loathed and despised the instructions. However, a belief of punishment sent the members to obey every order.
“Go back to the hotel rooms and rest.” Da Young commanded. “We’ll meet back at the lobby in two hours.”
The members groaned as they rubbed the hair on their heads. “Only two hours…?” They complained.
The two managers watched as the five worn-out boys left. A part of Da Young had felt sorry for them. A life of a singer wasn’t supposed to be like this. It was supposed to filled with fun, love, and a passion for music. Not just rehearsals and conferences that the members wanted to curse at.
“Da Young, I’m going to go arrange the meeting.” The weary Sang Joon walked towards the opposite side that the members went.
“Hold on.”
A hand rested on his shoulder as the woman instructed to stop. Da Young looked at Sang Joon, disappointed.
“Don’t work them too hard.” She murmured.
Sang Joon looked back and understood her expression. He nodded.
Da Young observed the tiles on the marble floor. “Remember the deal we had?”
Sang Joon rolled his eyes. “Of course I remember!” He pushed Da Young’s hand away, and left for the arrangements.
“Maybe I’m just hallucinating…” Da Young told herself silently. “Or have those two fallen for each other…?”
She had a strong feeling about the two, and she wasn’t at all disappointed by it.
Jaejoong barged into the bedroom without warning. He slid off his shoes, pulled off the blankets, and lied motionless on the bed. His feet were damaged dramatically from walking around town all day, and his mind was tired, from all his thoughts about his dreams and fantasies.
It was useless to ponder over wishes and fantasies. They were fake and nonexistent. No matter how hard Jaejoong wished - even with a coin drop in a fountain - he couldn’t make the universe turn around. The world was the way it was, no one had the power to change it.
The man who he had always dreamed about sat on the same bed he was resting in, and lifted up the blankets that Jaejoong had buried himself in. He peeked at his sleeping face, and smiled.
Jaejoong’s eyes opened immediately, shocked at the view he was currently observing.
The man smiled back at him. “Let’s sneak out.” The three words echoed around the room, bouncing off the walls as it finally arrived to Jaejoong’s ears.
He rubbed his weakened eyes. “W-what…? Are you crazy?”
Yunho’s face did not look serious. “Crazy people do crazy things.”
“Ha ha.” Jaejoong laughed sarcastically. “But really, did you hear what manager-hyung said?”
Yunho pulled on a face. “I’m not deaf.” He said, matter of a fact-ly. “I’ve already told the members to cover for us.”
Jaejoong could smell the strong masculine scent of Yunho’s body. His warm breath soaked into Jaejoong’s bare skin as it reached him. The current scenario made Jaejoong think it was a dream again, but this time, the dream wasn’t going to end so fast. He promised to hang onto this one.
“C’mon, Jae!” Yunho pleaded when Jaejoong did not reply. “This is a chance of a lifetime! How many times do we come to an amazing city and actually get to see the wonders of it?”
“Yunho, don’t be unreasonable. You know it’s not right.”
Yunho’s reckless babbling quieted down, as his mouth closed into a thin line. He looked as if he was pondering, searching his mind for an answer.
“Jaejoong, I have to tell you something.”
Jaejoong’s heart felt as if it had skipped a beat. “You need to tell me something…?” He asked, unsure of the question nor the answer. “Can’t you tell me right now?”
Yunho threw his hands up in the air. “Jaejoong! Don’t you understand? I need to talk to you somewhere private! And this is definitely not the place to say it!” Yunho’s harsh expression turned calm again, as he realized what he had yelled to Jaejoong. This was not the Yunho Jaejoong loved, instead, this Yunho scared him, as if blackmailing him to obey his orders.
“I’m sorry…” Yunho replied. “I shouldn’t have yelled at you.” He couldn’t help it, sometimes Jaejoong appeared to be like the biggest idiot on the face of the planet.
Jaejoong sighed. “It’s okay, Yunho.” He had wondered what Yunho meant by ‘telling him something.’ He was overly curious, and he wanted nothing more but to find out.
“I’ll go with you, Yunho… don’t worry about it.”
The saddened Yunho put on a content expression once again. “Really?”
“Yeah, really.”
His lips curled into a smile. Looking at him smiling made Jaejoong smile as well. The two locked their stares for a few seconds, but then broke out in embarrassment.
As the sun completely declined, the plan to sneak out was finally put to action. Jaejoong’s heart could not stop beating, as it pumped great amounts of blood into Jaejoong‘s veins. Being with Yunho made Jaejoong feel nervous and energetic. It also did the job of making him enjoy the good parts of his life more, and ignore the bad parts.
“Where do you plan to go?” Jaejoong asked Yunho, who was dazed by the night view.
“Tokyo Tower.”
“I was thinking the same thing.”
Yunho beamed back at Jaejoong, no words were needed to make Jaejoong pleased and contended. Just being with Yunho did the trick.
The informational conference started in the grand dinning room of the hotel. Famous guests filled the space, and food was set out for the hungry ones. The three members found their seats and sat, while a few artists introduced themselves in Japanese.
Sang Joon looked at his watch. Two members were missing from the conference.
Da Young was teaching the remaining members some Japanese. “Kon-ni-chi-wa, To-ho-shin-ki de-su.” She sounded out word by word as the fast learning members followed. Japanese was definitely a piece of cake.
“What’s taking them so long?” Sang Joon’s voice was suspicious.
The members were afraid to hear that question. Even though they had rehearsed the plan over and over again, the boys were still not confident to act it out.
Sang Joon looked to the three guilty members. “Anyone care to explain?”
Changmin dropped his nervousness and stepped up. “Yunho and Jaejoong…” He took a bite of a cupcake he was eating. “They’re exhausted from today’s trip… so… they stayed in their rooms to rest.”
Sang Joon looked unsure. He wasn’t a genius manager, but he also wasn’t an idiot either.
“I should go check on them.”
Junsu blocked the way that Sang Joon was ready to walk through. “T-That’s not a good idea…! You might wake them up!” A lame excuse, as always.
Sang Joon looked stubborn. “I’m their manager, it’s my job!” He pushed Junsu aside.
Sang Joon’s footsteps sped up as he targeted for the elevator. A hand stopped him from behind just as he was ready to step on.
“I’ll go check on them.”
It was Da Young, she gave the three members a wink.
“I’ll cover for you guys.” She mouthed to the group. She looked back at Sang Joon. “You shouldn’t miss out on the conference, Mr. Sang Joon.”
He nodded, and took her hand off his shoulder. He walked back to the dining room.
“Report everything to me, okay?” He demanded.
Da Young nodded as a hand reached her forehead in solute. “Yes sir!”
She falsely stepped onto the elevator, and gave the members one last wink.
The three males smiled to each other. Mission accomplished. Da Young had saved them from a lifetime of punishment.
As the members walked back to the dining room, they wondered in unison who Da Young really was. The mysterious woman that brought them luck and who had suddenly appeared out of thin air. Who was she really?
The walk to Tokyo Tower was not long yet not short. The two had forgotten about the pain in their feet by looking at the incredible night view. Lights flashed everywhere they looked, and the moon hung in the sky like a slice of white cheese. There were people everywhere - most of them the same age as Yunho and Jaejoong.
On the way there, Yunho had asked if Jaejoong wanted to go to a night club. He hesitantly denied, saying that he did not want to get drunk in a country he barely knew anything about. Jaejoong remembered the last time he had gotten drunk, and shivered at the slight thought of it.
The duo was at the foot of Tokyo Tower, and paid their share to ride the elevator. They rode to the highest floor, which they had visited that morning. They headed to a space where no one occupied, and leaned down at the night view.
“The night view is sure different from the morning view.” Jaejoong sighed at the town engulfed in darkness. He looked into Yunho eyes playfully. “It’s a thousand times more beautiful.”
Jaejoong laughed.
“What is it?” Yunho snapped, returning his stare.
“Is this the right time yet for you tell me whatever you were going to tell me?”
Yunho hesitated at the question. He never thought that Jaejoong would be so straightforward about it. The Jaejoong he usually knew forgot things easily, but coincidentally, he had remembered clearly and vibrantly this time.
Jaejoong waited patiently for Yunho’s answer as a long-deserved blush appeared on his cheeks.
“Jaejoong… did you know…?”
Jaejoong was eager for the words to come out of Yunho’s mouth. “Y-yes…? What is it?”
Yunho rolled his eyes. “Will you let me finish my sentence?” He lively added. He saw Jaejoong’s mouth close as silence stretched between them.
Yunho sighed, wondering if he could actually get through this. “…did you know that you sleep talk?”
Jaejoong’s eyes stretched widely. “I-I… do…?” He laughed at Yunho’s words. “Is that all?” He was calm yet disappointed. He thought Yunho had come to discuss more serious matters.
Yunho was silenced. He had a solemn expression on his face.
“What exactly were you dreaming about last night?”
…
The question hit Jaejoong hard. A part of him considered that Yunho was a mind reader. Another fraction of him told him he was dreaming yet again. But with the clues about sleep talking and dreams, Jaejoong at last drew the conclusions to Yunho’s words.
“W-what… was I saying in my sleep?” Jaejoong asked, full of butterflies in his stomach. He looked down at the view of the cars and streetlights. He felt even more ill.
Yunho and Jaejoong moved to an area that was more private. The younger man took in a deep breath. “You were saying things such as…’I love you, Yunho…’ and ‘What should I do…?’” He smiled at Jaejoong. “You had no idea you were talking, did you?”
Jaejoong gawked at Yunho’s words, and finally realized what Yunho had heard. His ashamed features turned red, while he turned away from the curious Yunho, and hid his face.
Yunho hand touched a fraction of Jaejoong’s cheek. He traced his face, as the bright red blush was revealed to him.
“I… just wanted to know why you said those words…’
Jaejoong shifted his positions on his trembling feet. Why I sad those words? Well, because I love you, Yunho! I love you crazy enough to dream about you! Jaejoong’s true feelings couldn’t escape his paralyzed mouth. His mind raced speedily, while his body was foolishly still except with his heart fluttering wildly inside him.
Yunho exhaled. “If you’re not going to talk, we might as well leave.”
Yunho walked the opposite way while he had left the motionless Jaejoong in the dark. The dark tower frightened the tense Jaejoong. He broke out of his thoughts, and recklessly ran after the walking Yunho.
He hung onto Yunho’s back, panting as his breath escaped from him. Running had made Jaejoong dizzy, and he was currently clinging to Yunho for his life. It was now or never. The confession had to come immediately. There wasn’t another second in the world that Jaejoong could waste.
“I don’t… want to waste time like this…” Jaejoong murmured breathlessly. “I’m sorry… Yunho.”
Yunho turned around to look at the drowsy Jaejoong. He had wondered what he meant.
Jaejoong shook his head. “Yunho, you have to understand this! I was dreaming about you and me last night!” His lips trembled as his whole body felt it was on fire. “…I love you! You’ve been the man I’ve always had affection for…!” The words strolled from his mouth like musical notes, each with unique tone.
Yunho’s long fingers held onto Jaejoong’s quivering hands. He closed his eyes. “I can feel…the pain that you’re hiding…”
Jaejoong’s closed eyes opened, and were snooping for answers to Yunho’s strange words.
“You’re afraid… that I might deny your feelings.”
Jaejoong couldn’t acknowledge his opinion. “Yunho… I’m not scared.” He whispered. “I’ve been with you for four years, and I’m not afraid.”
Yunho turned around to face the almost-tearing Jaejoong. He placed both of his hands on Jaejoong’s shoulders. “Don’t be afraid… because, I accept your feelings.”
The two of them stared at each other admiringly, wondering if the scene was only an illusion made up by their minds. Their eyes communicated, finally understanding each other’s thoughts and emotions.
Yunho was so close, his warm breath tickled the fine hairs on Jaejoong’s nape as he shuddered, suddenly.
"Cold?" Yunho rich voice tingled his skin again.
"N-no, I'm fine," He stuttered. "The others will be missing us, Yunho," He said, finally returning to his senses.
He still held onto Jaejoong’s shoulders. He returned to reality, too.
"No, they said they would cover for us." He said seriously. "No one will worry."
"Are you afraid to be alone with me, Jaejoong?" He asked silkily.
"I-I don't know."
"You shouldn't be, I'd never do anything to hurt you," He said earnestly.
Looking into his eyes, Jaejoong saw it was true.
"I only want you to be happy again," He said.
"Why?" Jaejoong asked, pulling his shoulders away. “Why would you think I’m not happy?”
Yunho thought the answer was obvious. “Because of your break-up with Sang Mi, I‘ve seen you very fatigued lately.” He looked out the window of the tower and saw that a light drizzle of rain had began. "Everyone deserves to be happy," He added, "Life is short."
"Shorter for some than others," Jaejoong said softly.
Yunho eyes grew shuttered. "Yes," he said to Jaejoong simply.
Jaejoong impulsively reached out and took Yunho‘s beautiful and sculpted hands. He placed a gentle kiss on his shivering palm.
He tried to pull his hand away.
"No, Yunho."
He relented. Jaejoong placed Yunho’s hand on his waist. His eyebrows lifted in surprise.
"Kiss me." Jaejoong closed his eyes and waited.
Yunho gently kissed his offered lips. A chaste kiss.
"Why?" He whispered hoarsely. "I don't want to die, never having been kissed." Jaejoong answered simply. "Don't you feel that way?"
"Yes," Yunho responded.
He kissed Jaejoong again, and he returned it in an inexperienced but fervent fashion, trying to figure out where lips and noses fit together.
Yunho chuckled against Jaejoong’s searching mouth. "What's so funny?" Jaejoong asked.
"Nothing, Jae… it's just that you're so eager," Yunho said, pulling back his head and brushing Jaejoong lips with his thumb
"I know I'm no good at this," Jaejoong realized, turning his head away.
"It's all right," Yunho commented, "I'll show you." He placed his hand against Jaejoong’s cheek and guided his white face to his own.
Pressing his lips gently against Jaejoong‘s, Yunho whispered, "Open your mouth a little, Jaejoong." and he touched Jaejoong’s lower lip with his tongue, begging entrance.
The silent communication eventually led Yunho’s face leaning in, as if making a statement about how irresistible the kiss felt. His hands crushed Jaejoong’s shoulders with force, as he closed in the empty space in between them. He shut his hazel-nut brown eyes, and touched his tongue softly to Jaejoong’s.
“Yun…” Jaejoong sentence was cut off as he gasped at the experienced kiss. He melted into the sensation as he closed his eyes. He moved his head quite a few times, so that kiss could be fully enjoyed. His ice-cold lips were warmed by Yunho’s warm ones, and felt his tongue desiring even more.
The two broke apart, as Jaejoong felt absolutely dizzy and faint.
“This is not the place for these types of actions…” Jaejoong whispered to Yunho silently. He saw some tourists had now come up to the highest chamber of the tower. He gave them a annoyed glare, as if he wanted them to leave.
Yunho laughed at Jaejoong’s looks. “We should go to a place where those actions are appropriate…” His arms wrapped around Jaejoong’s shoulders, as they headed down the hallway.
Jaejoong’s unsure thoughts invaded his mind yet again. He had repeated his thoughts about the whole situation being a dream. Unsure of himself, he wanted to ask Yunho for proof that it was real.
“If this is a dream, just like last night, wake me up from it, please.” He obviously didn’t want to be disappointed again.
Yunho shook his head in complete certainty. “This is reality, Jaejoong, deal with it.”
He looked up at the night sky. "If it is indeed a dream, I'll always remember it." Jaejoong remarked, looking up at Yunho and smiling into his eyes. “Especially the kiss part.”
"It won't be the last," Yunho assured, taking Jaejoong’s arm and leading his back towards the elevator.
"Promise me?" Jaejoong asked.
"I promise."
Kyaaaaaaaaaaa~ I feel that the fan girl inside me is really starting to emerge! This was a long chapter, right? Longer than most of the chapter... I didn't feel so well about this chapter... my writing ability just... LACKS. I feel myself jumping to conclusions... and I felt it was just too BORING to read over the ten pages I've written. I just ruined a perfect YunJae moment with my rushing and jumping >_<
I could've done better...
Right now it's president's day weekend, so I have nothing to do but to write this... but... I'm a bit too anxious to post it, that's probably why I've rushed some parts!
Was it boring...? I mean... the long ten pages... it just wasn't as short and sweet as the other chapters, huh?
Have a wonderful birthday for Changmin, by the way~ See you guys soon!
Comment, please~
