A really long update.

I can't believe it has been about 5 weeks since I've updated. It's been a very busy and productive last couple of weeks.  So I'll be nice and use a cut. :)

After talking about it for a year, Ken & I finally got a second kitty.  (We thought it would be great for our 5-year old girl-cat Reese to have a daily playmate.) My brother and his fiancee heard about a litter of kittens through some friends of theirs. A guy that my brother works with took two of the kittens, my brother took one kitten & Ken and I got the last one, the runt of the litter.  Crazily enough, my brother's kitten, named Madeline (Maddy) and our kitten look almost identical except for  a few markings. Our kitten's name is Hemi as in "She's got a hemi in her!". She has the loudest purring motor I've ever heard in any kitten and as soon as you pick her up, she starts purring. Ken picked the name & it is totally appropriate.  Also, she is a cinnamon color with white paws, white chest & some cool white stripes on her body. She digs in all of my plants & can be quite obnoxious when she wakes me up by nesting in my hair. But gotta love her. :)  Reese is doing okay with the transition; they play until Reese gets irritated and hisses and runs away.

Yesterday, August 6, was my bridal shower. My sister did a great job with it. There were 30 guests; I am only having one shower, so it included Ken's & my family as well as several of my friends. It was at a local coffee shop that has conference rooms, so it was a really nice venue. Easy to find and a really nice environment. Ken & I got all sorts of wonderful gifts from family and friends. We both feel so blessed and truly special.

Wedding planning is going well. I'm hoping to finish up my invitations tonight and tomorrow morning.  (Ken & I want to go to the state fair tomorrow so they have got to get done first!)  I still need a few more addresses that I can hopefully nail down today so we can get 95% of the invites out tomorrow.  We're starting to get focused on the hall items, including the dj, the wine & decor.  9 weeks and 5 days. Woo!

Ken's parents are being extremely stressful and complete dorks. Ken is doing pretty well dealing with his parents and telling him that this is his wedding, his life & he will lead it how he wants to. After 26 years, it is time that he does his own thing & his parents are just going to have to accept it. His mom was, on a scale of 1-10 about a 5 at the show yesterday. She wasn't very polite; I tried really hard to include her and make her feel special, but she was such a bitch. *sigh*

This past weekend, a 208 million jackpot was won in my state of Wisconsin by about 100 2nd shift workers at Sargento Cheese Factory. This includes the husband of the only woman that I work with, Barb. She is so excited and is about to become a millionaire. She does plan on continuing to work, but she hopes to go with her husband of 26 years and her two grown children on a wonderful vacation. So nice to see someone who really deserves to win the lottery to actually.. win it.

It's been 5 months since my mom passed away.  Every month gets a little easier, I guess. I finally am focusing more on her life than on her death.  Obviously, I really missed her at the shower yesterday; but I knew that she was there in spirit. I still miss her so much, but it is getting better, slowly.

I'm flying down to see my father at the end of August for a couple of days. He's so excited to have me visit. We're going to get him fitted for a tux and I have to find some shoes for the big day yet. Also, we're going to the Fiber Factory in Mesa, AZ, so I can totally do some yarn shopping. Woot!

I haven't been knitting too much. I think I've made two more hats for the hat drive & a bunch of washcloths that went as prizes for the bridal shower.  I'm starting to gather my patterns & yarn for the wedding-related and christmas-related gifts that I'll be giving. Once I finally get everything together, then I'll really start knitting a lot again.

Work is going extremely well. I'm now working 35 hours a week & get paid for my driving time. I'm also heading up a huge 400-person seminar for my boss that will be held in November. Things just keep getting better with that.

I've basically maintained the same weight for the past month, again. I got the eating thing down pat, but I'm obviously not moving enough.  I'm trying to rededicate myself at least for the next 8 weeks to really try to do more.

I am so in love. I cannot wait to marry Ken. I feel so loved. *mushy*

As you can see, overall, I'm doing alright. Just can't believe the summer is almost over!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!
