The last few days has been a bit of a whirlwind travelling. We left the UK on Sunday morning heading too Denver Colorado on Iceland air hoping to get these in before too late and it the town of boulder before doing some exploring around the Denver area. But lo, fate had other plans in store. We were grounded in Reykjavik due to sever weather. At first, we thought we would be delayed by a few hours abut our flights were later cancelled ad we were put up in a hotel close to Reykjavik. A fate that would not have been so bad had we known this earlier and could have used the opportunity to go explore Reykjavik but instead were confined to our hotel.
The following morning, we returned the Keflavik airport in hopes that we may be placed on an early flight our snowboard bags were misplaced or more accurately - not bene unloaded yet. We resigned ourselves to another night in Iceland but thankfully we ere put on a plane to JFK on Monday night where we were told we would get a connecting to flight to Denver that same evening. I managed to get my weekly trading plan ready at a coffee shop at the airport so was all set to get moving but as soon as we arrived at JFK we were handed yet another hotel voucher to spend the night at the Radisson in JFK.
Fuck this shit, just give us a Hotel!
All things considered we should have been vexed at this point, but I took into in its stride and surprisingly was a not bummed at all by the situation. On Tuesday morning I took the opportunity to head into Manhattan - a city I have not visited for over 15 years. Shawn joined me for the exclusion and mark opted to stay at the hotel to catch up o work. I suggested we hit Times Square for a photo op and see if we can hit some other landmarks in the time we were there.
New York, New York
I sent out a few messages to friends living in NYC to see a quick rendezvous was possible, Melody, Emily & Jonny all reached out but was not available at such short notice bug fortunately for me Kristine works right by Time square. She came to see us at Hard Rock. I was surprised at how nice t felt to see her - all the memories of good time had, and time spent together during the first few years of my stay in the UK came flooding back. I was great full that she ado the effort to come see me. So nice to see her it made me appreciate and miss my friends and the good times we had. I made a mental note to try to go see them when I get back to the UK
MY dear old Pal, Kristine came out to see us
At around 5pm we finally caught delta air to Denver, picked up our car and headed to Boulder. After a slight bit of confusion, we found our Airbnb and settled in before hitting the town. Found a cool little bar called the Dark Horse just up the road where quite a few beers were shared, and burgers were scoffed.
Not a bad few days all things considered. Life is grand I feel lucky and alive.
