Clearly, I haven't been keeping up with the various series I was reading.  There are at least three books in Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London series that I haven't read yet.  Luckily, the library has them.  Request sent for the oldest of the batch.

A reading me is a healthy me, and apparently four years of chaos put me off my reading.  That problem appears to be getting a lot better.  I'm back to working my way through the Expanse series.  The short chapters are perfect for before bedtime reading.

I'm just shy of finishing Miranda Kaufmann's Black Tudors the Untold Story.  She's got a lot of fascinating footnotes to follow up.  Kaufmann spent years piecing together these people's lives. She delves into where the information came from, what sort of work they would be doing, and whatever history would relate to them.  The chapter where she talks about Drake was fascinating.  Threw most of what I knew about him out the window.  My one quibble is the introductory paragraphs of prose she uses at the beginning of each chapter.

One of my big projects might be finished.  We still have a lot of CDs.  A LOT of CDs.  The WBH is the co-host of a Celtic music show that runs on Sundays.  There are shelves and shelves in that genre.  Plus my still too small trove of Balkan and Nordic music.  And the usual rock/pop/country stuff, too.  We outgrew the shelves years ago.  Not sure if we outgrew a lot of the music, too, but who wants to take that chance, eh?  I've spent months copying it all to a laptop.  Amazing the stuff you find, when you set out to put your entire collection onto disk.  I don't think she's still reading LJ, but a big thank you to  silverwhistle  She put together a wonderful collection of 12th century music for me years ago that had vanished into one of my various stacks of papers.

Next task, find a place to safely store the six or so boxes of CDs.  I like having back-ups.

The rest if my life revolves around the garden and its tasks.  Being the middle of July, we are now rich in tomatoes.  The eggplants are looking good, too.  The second batch of fruit arrives this Thursday from our local Fruit Group.  There should be two boxes of peaches and one of nectarines to can.  Now, if I can just find canning lids.   Cross-posted from dreamwidth.org
