Pictures

It's been an interesting long weekend.

I'll keep the crappy 'woe as me' stuff on the back burner and instead you get pictures.

Granted they are cell phone pics so you'll have to excuse the crappy quality.

On Thanksgiving - which consisted of me,  Mom, Dad, & River going to 2 dinners. First was the annual one my Aunt throws but as Bro & Sis-in-law decided they didn't want to travel too far and she wasn't up to it they had a smaller one at their house later in the day.

I dragged River along to that one as I felt bad abandoning her at my Aunts house with a bunch of family after we had just ruined her childhood her for her. (examples: Ring around the Rosey is about the Black Plague, The little Piggy does not, as we all thought, go shopping at the market *sniff* I'm still suffering over that one myself! Poor thing was in such shock that I found her snacking on the dessert table after she was clearly full saying "oh my God how much more is there I don't know!?!? Are all nursery rhymes evil?"

"Yes, they are" I told her. "Yes. They. Are!"

So with a promise to drive her home later without getting her a tattoo her folks let me take her (suckers).

As my Sis-in-law's due date for the parasitic spawn she's had been carrying was indeed Thanksgiving I told her it would top off the evening if she had the baby. Because after watching my Mom almost snarfed up a drink from laughing so hard, and 'accidentally' almost set Sis's step father on fire, really having a baby would just make it the most memorable Thankgiving in I don't know... a while? Ever? Whatever get that kid out!

Apparently my goodbyes later that evening which includes me telling my Sis's belly that "Mommy would love you forever if you get the hell out now because she's tired of waddling around and going to the bathroom 30 times in a day. Come on kid, you are just milking it at this point!" where enough to motivate the little bugger.

I was home by 10pm after dropping off sans tattooed cousin and I had just settled down in front of the TV with multiple cats surrounding me (OH GOD THAT SOUNDS SO PATHETIC. SHUDDUP! 2 ARE MINE 1 IS ROOMMATE'S AND HE WAS LONELY AND ABANDONED!! SHUDDUP!) when the phone rang.

It was my brother informing that they were on the way to the hospital because Sis's water had broken.

Oooh the excitement!!

So at 7:27am on Friday little Lucas aka Peanut made his debut:

The folks and I went down to visit the family in the hospital on Saturday where I informed my favorite nephew that I have so much to teach him such as How to get out of his crib (and that Mommy will hate me when I do that.)

Rabbit: "...And that you may end up thinking Grandpa is a lot of fun to play with but he was a big meanie to me and your Daddy, yes he was. He never really played with us."
Dad: "HEY"
Bro: "Oh yeah, tell Lucas about the "tree house"!
Rabbit: "Oh and someday you may want a tree house like your daddy and I wanted and maybe grandpa will make it for you because he never had time to make one for us.  Oh no. We said we'd settle for a platform in a tree but still no. So we had climb up a tree ourselves with nails and board and hammer and the fact that we didn't kill ourselves in order to make a half-ass tree hang out is a miracle. But I'm sure grandpa will be a lot nicer to you. Plus that damn River will no longer be his favorite."
Bro: "About time her reign ended!"
Dad: "HEY"
Rabbit: "Shush, Lucas is sleeping. Yes you are my favorite quiet nephew. Everyone wants you to wake up but I'll know you'll just start screaming so right now you are my favorite all sleeping and quiet like. Yes you are."

On Sunday it was said former favorite child in question's 16th Birthday. Yeah. Wow. I found this picture at her house of her first Xmas and texted it to my bro asking him if he remember it. He did indeed.

(Yes, my brother and I have a terrible habit of closing our eyes during pictures. Maybe you people should just snap those pics faster ok?)

This was taken when she was almost a month old. See the adoration she's giving my brother? He was like happy as it was a baby that finally liked him. Cue to a year later when my Mom would babysit little River and she'd run from my brother, and then ask 'Who is that!?" (who basically dares to call her Auntie "Mom". Why is he even here!? And whenever he'd leave the house she'd cheerfully say "Bye-Bye" and the unspoken don't the door hit you in the bum on the way out!

We teased her for years about that (and being our Dad's favorite). She says it was because he was so tall it was intimidating. Serves her right as she's now 5'10"!

And she has gracefully stepped down as 'favorite'. She said she understands that she had a longer reign than anyone else and it's okay and it doesn't matter - and that she'd cry later in her room saying how it really does matter!

I loves her! :)

And 16 years old! Gah. Upside a nice little lady at the party asked her and her friends what colleges they were applying to and then turned and asked me. While I was hitting my cousin who was laughing I stated I'll already graduated! (Oh yeah! See what I did there? :)

Bro then texted me a photo of the 'brothers' napping:

That's Lucas on the left and Figo on the right if you weren't sure which was which.

And that reminds me of a conversation I had with my brother in email 2 weeks ago:

Tues sounds great! You can come by whenever since ill be home. Can't wait to see you!! Figo is psyched!

Well Figo's gonna need some attention. It's so HAAARD being an older sibling. You are the center of the universe until that other kid shows up and no once cares about you anymore because it's like 'oohhh and ahhh' and 'it's so cute' and 'oh, look you have a baby brother to play with it' and it's all a lie because you can't play with him because all he does is cry, eat, and sleep and lies there like a lump and you are like this is the worst playmate ever and why couldn't I just get a dog like I asked for......

...oh wait, that last part may have been my issue not Figos. But it's okay, us older siblings will bond Figo. Yes we will. :)

Well I'd say here's hoping the kid doesn't come early but then again I'm sure Sis is ready for him to GET OUT and stop kicking her kidneys!  :)

Figo will be a loving and caring older sibling!  He will cherish his little brother and never play mean jokes on him like putting a bucket on his head for pictures or tricking him into trying to crack a walnut against his forehead.

I will point out if Figo does put a bucket on his little brother's head it will become Sis in Law's favorite picture ever of the the two of them. Not the he'll get any credit for it and will actually get yelled at for it at the time. Just saying.

Favorite. Picture. Ever.

And Figo will indeed cherish his little brother and part of that is to make sure he's not so gullible. One slight bump on the forehead at that age gives him an experience that will serve him well later in life.

Oh Figo, baby brothers are such hard work!

And one more pictures since there is a story

While Friendmate had been gone last week I've made sure to at night open up her bedroom door so the Martini can sleep on her bed like he does every night. We started keeping her door closed when none of us were home because we are pretty sure Xander-kitty is plotting against her. But as she was gone for a week we didn't want to deny Martin his comfort as he was spending chunks of the days looking out the window waiting for her return (and I think towards the end there almost convinced she had abandon him - I base this on how often he was showing up in my room in the mornings) anyway when I'd go off to bed at night he indeed would be curled up on her bed.

Funny thing is in the morning I'd be looking for my cats and I'd find him looking up at me with pleading eyes. That's when I realized my kitties had taken over Friendmate's bed. One morning it was Loki. The next it was Xander-kitty, and then after that it would be both of them. Now in all fairness her bed is in prime sunbeam position that they used to enjoy at times.

With her gone they were willing to share the bed and more often than not Martini would be on the chair in her room lucky to not have been kicked out of the room altogether.

I let her know of what was happening while she was gone.

I got back frantic texts of "OH GOD it's a trap!!! Get EVIL out of there! He's plotting!!!"

We were curious as to what would happen now that she was back. As it is Xander-kitty still goes to sleep on my bed and will stay there all night.

Well her first morning back I received this picture text yesterday morning after I had left for work with the caption "Did not expect to wake up to that!":

This is her bleary view point when she woke up wondering why her feet were warm. She said she slowly reached over for her cell phone to call 911 if necessary.

I texted back "I claim this bed & everything/one on it in the name of Alexander the Great!"

Though if I was her, I'd be panicking too.
