Personal Notes: Got to be on either side of a few close games this past week and a bit. The Evolution one was a heartbreaker, but the Cougars game was a hard-fought one. We only went in with only 6 forwards and 3 defensemen. We scored early, and they kept coming hard all game, but we managed to shut them down. I saw a lot of PK time in that game with the forward ranks depleted, and faired pretty well. My puck handling has come a LONG way from where it was a year ago. Before I was treating it like an active grenade. Now, I'm able to carry it a bit more, and control it and look for a pass first before dumping it away.
I've actually been playing the right side a little bit more often, both with the Bastones and the Animals, to some pretty good success. Not so much offensively since it's my off-wing being a right-handed shot, but it's helped me defensively when I'm going to the boards for a clear, now I would be on my forehand. That was such against the Stealers, a team we hadn't beaten yet. I was partnered with Jesse and Brandon on the right side, and we played a pretty decent game. The team as a whole actually played great. I was -1, but we did guard the zone pretty well. I had a moment when collapsing in front of our goalie, the puck was loose, and I calmly grabbed it a chucked it into the corner which was a huge moment in the 3rd. I think on that same shift, we took the puck into the offensive zone, and I was cross-checked in the blue paint. John didn't like it and he came in started to fight the guy! He got thrown out of the game, and I had to serve his roughing penalty, but when I got to the dressing room, the first thing I did was thank him for standing up for me! It was a good win!
