Our play in the first game is not reflected in the score at all. We absolutely dominated them. The thing about that team is they have a rent-a-goalie just about every week. So sometimes we'll win and win handily. But the goalie they had this game was amazing. We could get absolutely nothing past him. Beav was even granted a pentaly shot, but he couldn't beat the goalie.

The games versues the Marlies and the Mulleteers can both be described the same, as they're both the dirtiest teams in the league. The Marlies, you may remember, was the team where the guy two handed me across the collarbone. Well, these games were no different. The great thing about our team is, while we're not a dirty team, we can still match the physicality of any team we're playing against. If we play a clean team, we'll play a clean game, but if we face a goon team, we can become goons ourselves. I got a 4:00 minute penalty for body-checking, which was weird; it wasn't a thundering hit or anything. During a defensive zone scrum, I pushed the guy into the boards with one hand; not very hard, but he still crumbled like an apple pie and the ref called the penalty. And there was another post-game confronation happened between Marsillo and some guy from the Mulleteers when he came onto OUR bench after the game was done! Weird.

Also, our goalie Alvin has been playing amazing hockey so far in January. *knock on wood* A lot the games he's either stolen them for us, or kept it shut down when the scores were still relatively tight. Very awesome to see him hitting his stride.

The Animals started up again, and the score is very indicative of how top heavy the UofT league is. In the Canlan league with the Bastones, all 8 teams are pretty even. Anyone could beat anyone else at any time. But at UofT, UTSC, OISE and ourselves are the dominant teams. So when we face each other it's great, but there are a lot of romps against the other teams. That being said, it was relieving to be in a non-chippy, tons of fights affair...'

I had a breakaway opportunity in that game, too! Steven sent me in with a beautiful stretch pass on the inside of the dman who tried to stand me up at the blue line. But when I tried to deke the goalie, the puck started rolling and I lost it. I did set up Josh's goal on a pretty nice play; a shot from the point went wide of the net, and I went behind the net to grab the puck. Coming out on the right side, I was able to draw both defenders, and then passed the puck on my backhand to Josh who was all alone in front of the net and potted it in. Great game, we hemmed them in their own zone for more than half the game, so we played well. Just gotta make sure we keep bringing it every game and not get cocky.
