I now officially a PhD candidate at Erasmus University, Rotterdam (well, I've not signed the contract yet, but I've had a call and been offered the position). I'll start on February 1. My project is about media tourism- people who travel to a site because of media. My project will be on film and television tourism, so places where popular movies/TV shows are filmed that people go to and visit for whatever reason. I get to do fieldwork where the tourism is! Which means I have to think of where it should be. (Iceland? Italy? Prague? It's got to be in non-UK Europe.)
So that's the next four years sorted, I suppose. Which is pretty neat. It's here, anyway. More Europe for me!
