I see that the issue of women in the Defence Force has reared its head again.
Honestly, the sexism in this country surprises me sometimes. This is not an issue of "feminists kicking up a fuss" - no one is demanding affirmative action, or that women be placed on the front lines for the hell of it. It is the mere suggestion that if a woman is physically and mentally capable of serving on the front lines in combat and wishes to do so, that she not be denied that position because of her gender. Pretty basic equality, there.
Why on earth is Australia "not ready" to allow a woman to (potentially) die for her country?
