Home at Despard

Well, I have arrived safely at my parent's new place in Victoria. My old internship contract with the Ministry of Forests is over, and at the end of my time here on May 7 my new contract as an auxiliary employee will begin. Yay for finally logging seniority and a recall list!

I have a lot of mixed emotions as to what is going on now, but frankly the more immediate issues of getting unpacked and settled into a new family home make writing seem less important. I'm going to spend some time with the cat and wander around the garden before cooking our fried-egg dinner. I'm cooking a quick meal before my parents take me out to see Don Giovanni, I haven't seen a opera since I was little and am looking forward to it since I have studied Don Giovanni in my musical history course (ahh, the joy of strange electives).

When I left Smithers the snow has still to be found covered in gravel in ditches everywhere, the grass was largely grey and the flowers were just starting. As we drove down the plant life blossomed in front of my eyes- the trees gradually starting to become tinged with green before bursting into that brilliant green that only new spring growth has. Now at home all the doors and windows are open, the grass needs cutting, and the flowers are blossoming everywhere... It's good to be home.
