Well, I have been meaning to do one of these for ages, and never gotten around to it. So here goes, anyhow. Links go to my journal entries mostly, but some of the older stuff is only posted on FF.N.
Wow, it's a small world! What was it called? I may have read it back in the day - that was a teeny close-knit fandom. I still miss it loads. I remember that show aired just about everywhere but the US. We had a lot of Canadians, heaps of Aussies and Kiwis, several Norwegians and I think a few Dutch.
I still have heaps of friends from then, too. Notably misscam who got me into BSG in the first place. The show was into series 3 by the time I got into it (story of my fandom life) so she would send me tapes of the early seasons (complete with Norwegian subtitles) in exchange for the latest eps which hadn't yet aired there. (We are so spoiled today with downloads, aren't we?)
"The Journey" was my magnum opus in that fandom (I have always referred to it as "the Epic") and it took me two years to write it. I didn't post it as a serial, so by the time I finished it and posted, there was no one left to read it! I was still so glad to have done it though. :)
Ah, yes there was a lot of overlap between BH and WR fandom. And I do remember Ness! Funny, being Australia, there's a Sydney crowd, and a Melbourne crowd. Friendly rivalry, and all. I ended up with the Sydney crowd, so Ness and I were never close friends. But fandom then was like a small country town - everyone knew everyone. We used to have massive ICQ chats where just about everyone (all 20 or so of us!) would show up
( ... )
Hehe, I rememer that! And your epic. Wasn't I totally mean and wrote a longer one in the end, though?
Funny thing, really - I had gotten into WR, thus getting friendly with you, you might not have gotten into Doctor Who and BSG. Everything is connected.
Yes you did, meanie. You blew up the Sydney Harbour Bridge in a terrorist attack. And then 9.11 happened like a WEEK later and it was freaky as hell because you pre-empted it.
And yet we still never share ships. But I usually manage to puppy-eye you into playing with mine a little. All of this has happened before...

That's because I'm nice to you :P Where's my treasts, huh?
In conclusion: We like a lot of the same, only different aspects of it?
