I've done it now.
I was curious about this certain movie that I suspected had been hatched in a certain place near Olympia that begins with a certain letter that is almost the last letter of the alphabet. So, upon finding that it was playing at the Capitol Mall, John and I decided to check out the 10 pm showing. What the %$! were we thinking?
And now, in the process of discussing it , I have begun to go to great lengths to keep from being linked in Google searches. Because, it seems there is a lot of discussion by followers of a certain religious group for whose benefit this movie is so ingeniously crafted. They don't seem to like to hear from people who are critical of the film or question that it is religious propaganda.
And I really don't care what you think of me, I am now, in short rant, going to say a few words about quantum physics, my view of the expanding universe and cult psychology. And yes, boys and girls, I am going to use the word "cult" Because I have definitely been a member of one myself, and also am privy to much information about the social structures and rituals of the organization that crafted this movie. In fact, I used to teach one of the main protagonist's children, and I know well of said persons devoted affiliation to " the school". "What the".. contains a lot of interesting , thought provoking quips about the nature of matter and the universe. But thinly veiled beneath is a message that you should really get to know this individual better that has a converted horse farm out past the new Walmart in Hawks Prairie.
And every single one of the " experts" that the movie cites and features is connected to the school. So if it isn't about yoo know who, what is it about then, hmmm?
I have had tons of great reflective moments in my life, mulling over the nature of existence, chaos theory and the Lorenz effect. I love synchronicity, reading about Buddhism , and going
for the state of flow and oneness in my spiritual practice. I believe in the power of thought forms. But goddamit, I found this film manipulative , not to mention watered down. It was , for the most part , painful to watch. I apologized to John for taking him. I think I pushed his
bullshit detector into the red zone. Perhaps, to (appropriate from the film) I am creating my perspective from negative past events in my neural net. But using lofty spiritual concepts paired with manipulative cinematography lure unsuspecting folks into one's belief system is very bad karma.
If the ancient mystery wisdom, the blue green algae or the kinky rubber porn is so good.. be out about what you're about. No need to hide it or disguise it. It's just like Waldorf, where we were encouraged to hide the questionable spiritual aspects of the philosophy when talking to prospective parents. It was utter BS.
It riled me up.
Sorry to compare rubber porn with yer ancient mystery wisdom, but you know, shiny surfaces are a spiritual experience for some of us. tee hee.
