If this were written for the author's benefit I would have mailed it to her, any flamers are acting entirely on their own initiative.
Notes: The first chapter of this fic is entitled: "Going Camping Then Tragedy." It's like an uninspired version of anime episode titles.
Title:
New Life in Middle EarthAuthor: daydreamer8301
Summary: "After an accident a young woman is brought to Middle Earth with a greater role then even she herself could imagine. A tenth walker series with romance developing along they way."
Name: Amaris Grant (Mary Sue uses the meaning: "child of the moon," but it's also Hebrew, and it means: "promised by God." Both meanings seem somehow appropriate for a Sue to want to use.)
Species: human
Age: 26
Hair:
-"She brushed out her dark chestnut brown hair that goes to her shoulder blades." She wears it up with a large butterfly clip.
-"Her dark chestnut hair was still thick and full"
Eyes: "her green eyes were still large surrounded by thick black lashes"
Appearance:
-She wears lip gloss.
-beautiful
Special Possessions:
Clothing:
-jeans, t-shirt, tennis shoes
-"She unfolded the bundle and it revealed a beautiful deep green gown with a scoop neckline and a silver embroidered pattern at the bottom of the skirt. Its sleeves were long and flowing. There were two layers to the skirt and the under layer was a beautiful white. While she was admiring the dress Tari had walked back into the room carrying the same green color slippers." Arwen gave her this dress because it would look so beautiful with Sue's hair and eyes. As usual, the gown's color matches Sue's eyes.
-"It was a cream colored gown that was even more breathtaking then the green gown she wore last night." Elrond was the one who gave her this dress. I didn't know he wore dresses. Nyah.
Backstory: She was born on the night of a full moon. She's also been trained in archery since she was five.
Special Abilities:
-archery
-She cries single tears.
"Flaws:" The author promises flaws, but none have surfaced yet, aside from perhaps difficulties with crossing streets.
Connections to Canon: I'm guessing Legolas will fall in love with her.
The Plot: Amaris gets ready to go camping, and then gets run into by the typical Middle Earth Transportation Device - a car. Aragorn finds her and takes her to Elrond, where she is given a make-over and allowed to come to council because of her knowledge of the Ring. Everybody gushes over her except for Gimli (who mistakes her for an Elf!) and Boromir, and she gets to go help throw the Ring in Mount Doom.
Sample: Choose a tense! Please?! >_<
“Amaris, it’s Sofia. Are you just about packed?” Amaris laughed and sat down on the edge of her bed next to her duffle bag.
“Just about. What time are leaving in the morning?”
“I’d like you to be over here at 4:30 to help me make sure I’ve got everything in the car. You know me, I might forget something.” They both laugh and Amaris lays down on her bed.
“Okay, sounds good. So, I take it you’re excited to go camping?”
“Yeah, it’s the first time I’ve ever gone. Thanks for inviting me along with you.”
“No problem. It beats going out there by myself again.” Amaris sits up and checks her clock. “Well, it’s almost 8:30. I’ve got to finish packing my bag and get to bed if I’m going to be any good tomorrow.”
“Yeah, I better do that too. I’m just so excited!” Amaris laughs as she stands and walks over to her dresser.
“Okay. I’ll see you at 4:30.”
“Yep. Good night Amar.”
“Night Sofie.” Amaris hangs up her phone and looks into her mirror. She sighs at her reflection and pulls out her cosmetic bag. She unzips it and opens the wood storage box on her dresser. She pulls out her home made shampoo, conditioner and body soap. She makes her own chemical free so she can bathe in the river without causing damage to the water supply. It’s also her favorite thing to use because it is rose scented and roses are her favorite flower. She places the three bottles inside the bag as well as several hair ties and her favorite large butterfly clip. She puts her hair brush, toothpaste, toothbrush, and sunscreen in there as well. She zips up the bag and puts it inside her duffle bag. She closes up the duffle bag and places it next to her arm chair in her bedroom. She opens her closet and grabs an old pair of jeans that fit just right and a dark blue t-shirt. She sets them on her arm chair for the morning.
She walked out of her bedroom of her small one bedroom apartment in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota and into the bathroom. She washed up and changed into her pajamas for bed. She walked into her kitchen to get some water. She looked at the fridge and smiled at the pictures of her first grade class that she took the last day of school. She is a first grade teacher and loves every minute of it. This summer she was going on a week and a half camping trip and then when she gets back she starts her archery classes. As a summer job she is an archery instructor at the City Center. Her father got her into archery when she was five years old and with 21 years of experience under her belt it wasn’t hard to get the job at the city center. She finished her water and went into her bedroom. She set her alarm for 3:00am and crawled into bed. She was asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
Amaris opened her eyes to the annoying buzzing of her alarm clock. She turned it off and reluctantly crawled out of bed. She quickly made the bed and stumbled into the bathroom. She brushed out her dark chestnut brown hair that goes to her shoulder blades and brushed her teeth. She crawled into a nice hot shower because this would be her last hot bath in over a week. She washed her body and hair and stepped out of the shower wrapping herself in a large towel. After she dried her body she threw her hair up in the towel and wrapped her bathrobe around her small frame. She walked into her bedroom and grabbed her underclothes and put them on. She finished dressing in the jeans and t-shirt she sat out the night before and slid on her tennis shoes. After that was done, she walked into her bathroom and blow dried her hair. She brushed it up in a pony tail and grabbed her lip gloss from the counter. She put some on the slid the tube into her pocket. She went back into her bedroom and checked the clock.
“4:15. Perfect, that leaves me enough time to walk over to Sofia’s and then we’ll be on our way.” She takes her jacket out of the closet since it’s a chilly morning out and puts it on. She picks up her stuffed duffle bag and swings it around her body. She makes sure everything is good to go then turns off the lights and locks up her apartment. She throws her keys into her jacket pocket and walks down the empty hallway of her building and out the main doors.
It’s early Saturday morning and the streets of her suburban city are quiet. She only saw one car drive down the street while she continued on her ten minute walk. She stopped at the crosswalk to cross the street. Since there were no cars coming, she started her way across the street. All of a sudden lights are shinning on her and a horn is being honked. She screams and the next thing she knows she’s hit hard and tossed in the air. She lays on the cold paved road feeling the injuries shoot throbbing and unbearable pain throughout her body. She’s in shock and can’t move or make a sound. She can’t do anything but stare into the black sky wishing for the pain to stop. She hears a car door open and footsteps running towards her. Suddenly a face appears hovering over her. The panicked face of an older man about 50 with a cell phone to his ear.
“Yes. I need an ambulance to the corner of Crenshaw and 15th Avenue. I hit a woman crossing the street. Please send someone, she’s hurt really bad. pause No, I didn’t see her until it was too late. Please hurry, I don’t think she’s going to make it.” That’s the last thing she heard because blackness surrounded her and she felt no more pain.
