I may be quite some time behind on the fact that Geocities are closing down, because I just discovered it uh.. now and realized how much will be lost there in terms of fics, and then I sort of panicked. Just sad to see them closing any of it. Been on a mission the last couple weeks, as time permits. currently grabbing astrojen's things from elves and men

I just realise how little time I have and how many places to search! There isn´t some kind of fandom-cooperation - like people saving stuff from one place each at the time to be able to share between them later on? I mean, just to make it in time?

Not that I've seen.
I've been rescueing old Yahoo groups too. Least with the groups I can go back and move stuff when there's more time.

Oh.. I don´t even know how to do that. I don´t have a Geocities-account either but perhaps that´s not necessary? Too late to create one now anyway.

Please forgive my ignorance.I had heard that Geocites was closing down,Is Of Elves and men hosted by Geocites? That's a pretty big archive and one of my favourites.I hope we don't lose it.

Um... I don´t know actually, that´s not the same as Astrojen´s is it? I´m completely confused. Arrrgghh.. *faints on deskboard* There are some resque/backup-projects for Geocities going on. I myself (discovering this shit a few days back) have reached a mostly paralyzed state of mind where I can´t think what is highest priority nor wtf to do in general about the tragedy *being such a technophobe it´s just a lovely Mt Everest to climb*. Any suggests?

I got my stuff off Geocities last month. I dunno if it will help or not to have a date, but Geocities closes on the 26th Oct.
