This election is frustrating me.

I like everything about McCain except that he is against Abortion (wants to overturn Roe V. Wade) and that he reserves that marriage is for a man and woman.

It's just frustrating to me. I think women have the right to choose! I think it would violate the constitution to deny them that right. I mean, they may, in some cases, be idiots for ( Read more... )

It's interesting because these issues often come up in the religious community and I feel like I'm the pink florescent elephant standing in the room...
I mean, after all, I'm the odd ball who is going to vote Democrat until the cows come home (or until Republicans realize that they can conduct foreign policy without alienating everyone/killing people and that cutting education fundings is the most boneheaded of all boneheaded ideas in the history of boneheaded ideas...well except for genocide, that trumps everything in terms of boneheadedness)

But not only that, I'm the only one who doesn't have a fervent solid-as-stone opinion on either of these topics...ok, so I'd probably go more for 'civil unions' than 'marriages', just because the Bible does explicitly say 'marriage' is between a man and a woman...BUT those 'civil unions' should have all the same perks in terms of taxes and such..

And as for abortions, well...*sigh* *bangs head on desk*, while I wouldn't necessarily hate if they went away, nor would I ever get one myself, I fear what the repercussions would be if it were banned...I mean, a lot of people are hesitant about birth control...would that be next? Holy Toledo Batman I can't have more than 3 kids, and I don't really know I want them within the first nine months of my marriage either! Needless to say it's an issue I still bang my head over..

I'm proud of you for thinking about this stuff...even if you are leaning more towards McCain :-P
