In which LotL writes retroactive fanfic

So, I had just finished writing a little drabble (100 words exactly, took a little doing, but I am inordinately please by the even word count) when I realized that though I originally intended this to be something of original fic, or something, but it seems to apply to pretty much every fandom ever. So, take a gander, and decide where and when and with whom you want to set it. My personal view is Edmund after he breaks the Witch's wand, and Faramir after waking up from the Black Breath

When you’re on the precipice, nothing else matters. Hate disappears; joy vanishes. There is no colour, only gray. There is nothing but you, the edge, and the decision.

But when you step back from the edge? The colour comes back to life. Feeling floods in: pain and fear, but most of all hope. Hope that things may improve. The surety that life moves on, and you have to move with it, or be left behind.  With the bad comes the good.  With terror comes the knowledge that you can make a difference, that you matter.

You are loved; step back.
