I am very dissatisfied with the lack of cable/internet (& CABLE INTERNET) choices. My hate of Comcast still rages on. While we were in Oklahoma, Ryan's mom mentioned she was looking to switch (back) to U-verse, but I figured it was a local provider. Diana told me it was (or is coming very soon?) in her area (she's about 10 miles down the road) & they will be switching shortly. I find it online (
U-verse is owned/operated by AT&T)...& of course, they're not in my area. UGH. Heck, they couldn't even find my address. I don't want to switch to DirecTV (1-I don't want a bulky satellite, 2-I don't want DSL, 3-I don't want to pay Comcast for internet & DirecTV for cable)...& at this point that's Comcast's only competition. How can Nashville not have choices? We're a big enough city (+suburbs)!
I have a friend that's pregnant that e-mailed us today to let us know how things are going (I normally see her on a weekly basis, but haven't seen her in a bit due to vacation & various other events). I'm always made very uncomfortable when people like her (& her included, duh, lol) complain about being pregnant & having to go to the doctor's - & then being diagnosed with pre-gestation diabetes (that's the right term, right? she never used that, but did go into how she's going to have to take insulin). I mean, she never really watches what she eats, so it's hard for me to always be sympathetic. Heck, I've never had a baby, but I'm well aware that sodas, ice cream, pizza, hamburgers, etc are NOT pregnant/baby friendly. Heck, they're barely human-friendly.
Yes, people, life sucks. It's not fair that some people (*cough*ryan*cough*) get to eat all they want, when they want...& for it to be the most junky food in the world...& not gain a pound. While the rest of us have to watch every single thing we put in our mouths in order for us to maintain, much less LOSE weight. I know the pain, I deal with it every day. Heck, Ryan deals with it indirectly because I cry over how unfair it is (still working on dealing with that!). But, you need to learn how your body deals with food. Personally, I try to find comfort in the fact that I am eating healthier & understand food better, so I will live a healthier 2nd half of life. Ok, let me get off my soapbox since I've probably upset people...
Ryan is leaving around lunch tomorrow for Knoxville & will get back Thursday evening. He's got 20th row seats to
Phish & is SO excited. I'm glad he gets to do those types of things & have boy time (he's going with 2 of his best friends). He'll be doing some recordings this weekend, too, so I'm no seeing him much this week. I LOVE spending time with him...but I also LOVE my alone time just as much. Still, we're hoping to see UP on Saturday afternoon after he's done with recording & the VBS carnival is over (I'm working the cotton candy machine, yum - speaking of junk food, ha).
Random: I bought strawberries at WalMart the other day. They looked great but were stored out of refrigeration - I'd never seen that before. The day after I put them in the fridge they start to go bad. What gives?
Ok, there were other things to discuss, but I got a call from Ryan & as it's gotten late, I've got a few things to do. I got a new walking DVD & am kind of eager to try it out. So, good night everyone :)
