C'mon...REALLY?
http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/3325775/John-Key-voted-NZs-hottest-politician I am getting pretty fed up with being told that John Key is New Zealand's big hope. Seems like every week, we are reminded by mainstream media of how popular he is, how cool it is to be out of the recession, how ineffectual Labour are as an opposition party. In the meantime, he is set to increase GST by 2.5%, thus putting a further strain on the pockets of the working class, and reduce the top tax rate from 38% to ease the burden of being very rich.
Fine, I know that's what National does, but having the media sell your policies for you is cheating. Especially when they're trying to distract the population by making him 'sexy'. I don't want sexy politicians! That's not what they are for. If we want to see sexy politicians, we should watch a Hollywood movie. Politics in NZ should never be glamorous, dangerous or sexy; it should be about trying, in the most boring way possible, to improve peoples lives without getting in the way.
