So Olivias trinka trinka album came out a few days ago and it appears I've forgotten to review it I'll review that and Anna Tsuchiyas A virgin cat single.
So the LONG AWAITED mini-album is finally here and I have to say it doesn't disappoint I like this new style and I think it does actually suit Olivias voice quite a bit. But I guess I was a bit disappointed it wasn't as rock or indie sounding as some of olivias old stuff and nothing really compared to the lost lollis under you waves but overall I prefered it to her reira stuff which was a bit to slow and conventional at times (although I do love wish and starless night). I like collecting sparkles and was suprised she'd simply re named real love to your smile and added some extra cords. Its all very electroniacal funky music in comparison to actual instruments I'm guessing thats her brothers influence and I quite like it but I think she needs to work on make a better build up in her bridges and make her choruses a tad more detailed, I don't really think she believes her album is perfect just yet and am sure she'd have liked to work on it further but that could be just me. My least favourite song is I miss you, I don't really know why exactly but I think it sort of lacks bordering on winyness, I like Because (the song) and think she needed only one slow song because I miss you doesn't quite measure up against Because. I miss you sounds too much like the reira stuff and doesn't really match the rest of the album. The Trinka trinka song is a bit weird and I think her bridge is too harsh on her voice bordering on her screechy lives of spider spins and not to pleasant but the backing tones are quite nice. Rain is a pleasant song and quite a nice head lining song to have chosen, its not amazing and will get tiresome but its not terrible and better then a little pain, I like rain because at times the guitar chordes show a sort of saddness in them that although the lyrics and the overall feel is light that behind all the electronic stuff theirs a bit of saddness. Collecting sparkles has the best chorus but she ruins it by talking after it and sticking in high chords she hasn't used the right words after she sings the collecting sparkles chorus it just sounds like shes babbling but I like how she drops keys when saying sparkle its my favourite song on the album and I think alot of other fans agree with this. I like this album its not a great album and shouldn't have been delayed as long as it had been but at least it has some good stuff on it and she released it this year not the next. I do hope she releases a larger album next and not a small mini album as I feel she should have done more but oh well.
Virgin cat single:
Alot of people don't like this song but I like it, its poppy and catchy and keeping with anna Ts new unrock image which she seems to be ditching a little, the song Imitation night is actually a little boring in comparison, rock fans of anna T will like it and although I love her nana stuff imitation night I sort of glaze over and don't listen to with as much detail. I like the java remix of Virgin cat at first I didn't because the chorus sounds out of tune but after a while it grew on me, its sound is a bit more jazzy and toned down so Anna Ts voice really comes through. So I really like this single and am happy with pretty much all that shes brought out except for cocoon that single really was lacking. But I'm excited to here her new album is coming out soon with alot more tracks on so I really cannot wait!
