I have started a 101 list, which is something Ris has been doing for years and years. It is intended to be a "101 things to accomplish in 1001 days" sort of list, and while i'm still waffling on whether to observe the timeline or not, just the effort of trying to write down 100 things you want to do and could reasonably accomplish really causes thought in interesting veins. (found Teh Website: Day Zero Project)
Having reached 40-some, I idly sorted alphabetically, and was amused at how many of my listed items begin with "create" or "make" or "write" and there are very few with "visit" or "go to."
The other interesting trick to this undertaking is that it forces you to quantify vague goals. Like, "exercise more" is hard to scratch off the list. But "exercise every day for 3 weeks" is a measurable goal.

My buddy James came to visit for a few days. I met him while going to SCAD, and he's recently moved back home to New York city and was able to drive out here. We found a park with a really nice archery range, and he was super excited to be shooting a bow at all. I was perversely pleased that he couldn't shoot my bow at all, although he had a disadvantage in that it is a left-handed bow, and he's a strong right. We lunched at a local diner and went back to canoe around the lake for an hour, and then had soft-serve ice cream on the way home.
I know i got my sunburn mostly while we were doing archery, because the shadow left by my bracelet was not on my bow arm XD
This park is too far away for regular archery practice, but an ex-archer who was hanging out by the lake saw me putting the bow back in the car and told me they've just recently put a range in at a place that may be close enough for regular visits. I still have to check it out.

Sunday, the three of us went to an Irish festival of some variety going on in down town Akron, and while there wandered into an antique shop. I spassed out over porcelain tea cups with dragons on them (6 cups and 4 saucers for $30!!) and Ris about died over want for a cherry wood student's Cello and kit for under $400. Plotting and scheming occurred, and today she came home from work to discover said cello taking up residence in her computer chair.
Much happiness ensued!
...And i made out with a few more items of dragon-ware in the process XD Plus the look on her face when she found her surprise.

So, all in all, its been a good week.

archery, life, dragons, win, free time, discoveries
