Sick, Stressed....Satisfied?

Sky pulled a random knowledge on my the other day,  was completely unexpected.

I was complaining about having a sore throat, and why in the Name of Things did the /outside/ of my neck hurt if the inside was sore? and he looks over and calmly says "Lymph Nodes are swollen."
o.0?!

So i wiki'd it. The Pharyngitis page (colloquially a sore throat, lol) notes that lymph nodes behind the ears do swell up, in fact react to different illnesses often in such specific ways that they're a key means of diagnosis. The Lymph Node page, one you figure out which medical term means 'behind the ears' says those particular organs control the flow of gunk through the sinuses, which explains the wierd crap-is-going-to-my-ears-not-my-throat feeling. Which of course has now fixed itself; now my neck hurts /and/ i'm dry coughing gunk [sigh]

But essentially the new knowledge blew my braincells for a short while. And since i now know something of a cause rather than a symptom i can treat it better, which means anti-inflamitories have been added to the local-anisthetic throat lozenges (cough drops with kick). Also i learned today that acitominophene is sometime called an anti-inflamatory when it isnt. Ibuprofin and asprin are though.

To be honest, the sick isn't too bad except when i have to get out of bed, because that means the nyquill has worn off and i'm stuffed up, swollen, and blurry. But it had to go and happen the week of bloody Midterms, which means no skipping school for me [sigh]. I'm on the knife edge of being barely on time in all classes too.

In other news, i think i want an electric kettle for christmas. One of my Jewery profs has one. Plug in, turn on, up to 4 mugs worth of very hot water in 5 min or less!

school, sick
