Cambridge last weekend...

This was how busy it was at 10.30 on a Sunday morning. If you want to punt, do it early. It is idyllic.

  Cambridge's Bridge of Sighs.

The underside of Mathematical Bridge. The story that it was built by Sir Isaac Newton without bolts, but some undergraduates took it apart and weren't clever enough to put it together again is ⅔ false.  It was originally built using wooden pegs, which were replaced by pegs when it was restored in the nineteenth century.

 The Backs (of the Colleges).

A panorama - how could I resist?

A cloister at Sidney Sussex College. I once watched a dvd of a renaissance band which featured this cloister.

The original range of buildings (1596) at Sidney Sussex College. Which was founded by a woman, Lady Frances Sidney, Countess of Sussex.  Oliver Cromwell was an early attendee, and his head is now buried in the chapel. According to the wikipedia article, it was an avowedly puritan foundation.
