Headed to Cambridge this morning, slightly hampered by the change of bus timetable (I'd googled the timetable, but there was a newer one than the one I found online…sigh). So I left half a cup of coffee at Caffe Nero in order to run and catch the 9.10am bus, only to discover it was now the 9.45 bus.
Ambled aimlessly through Cambridge. It was crowded because it's still Easter term AND the tourists are in full flight too. One of the things I enjoy about having enough time to make several short visits to Cambridge is that I can enjoy walking around admiring the architecture and gardens, and intersperse it with some window shopping. It's a nice blend of holiday and history, with a bit of retail therapy which feels ordinary in an enjoyable way.
Visited
Heffers bookshop for crime fiction. It used to be independent, now it's owned by Blackwells. Picked up another Gladys Mitchell reprint (one of my favourite retro crime writers). As usual, I did not have long enough to browse everything I wanted to at the shop. Or enough money to buy everything I wanted. Or enough suitcase space to get everything I wanted back home.
At the Mac shop I bought a new set of earbuds which are rocking my world. The new version have volume control and advance to the next song built into the button on the strings. It was the same price as the basic version.
Stopped in at
Sanctuary Spa and had a back, neck and shoulders massage by Rachel. She had very good hands. She also introduced me to an
aromatherapy muscle gel which is going to be very handy on my walking holiday in a few weeks. It's an added bonus that it smells nice.
I also dropped by
the White Company and lusted after their
pure linen sheets.
Home tonight for the finale of Injustice the crime thriller set in Suffolk. Don't worry, I won't tell you the end.
