It's 8.30am, and I am sitting in a huge picture window watching the verdant valley that is Gloucestershire. It is currently bathed in sunshine, with some drifts of mist just clearing. Very fetching.
The hotel is as lovely as I remember. I had booked a single room, but they moved me to a double room - which was very nice of them. Thanks to Mrs Host, whose Family&Friends voucher I am making so much use of. My partner in crime thinks her room is "much nicer" but I guess that just says there are several nice rooms here.
We had a good dinner in the restaurant: Beef & Ale Pie.
And I really didn't mind that an unknown gentleman entered my room in the wee small hours.
I woke up from a dream, not even sure where I was, to hear my door opening. "Hello?" I called, at which there was a mortified apology and I saw an arm retreating through the door (it had been groping for the light switch).
This morning, as I sat here checking my email, I heard a chap at reception checking out, but complaining that they'd initially given him a key to a room that was already occupied. The receptionist was apologetic, then said archly, "well, I hope she was pretty at least?" The gentleman said (slightly affronted), "I didn't look when I found it was occupied!" So I called out, "Well that explains my midnight visitor then..." Another round of apologies ensued.
And no, he didn't come around to the lounge check if I was pretty. *snicker*
Oh the adventurous life I lead! Now I'm off to find a coffee while I wait for my partner in crime to wake up.
