Nearly done? Really?
I remember seeing Ida and writing about them after a newspaper sent me to cover CMJay in 1996. I compared them to Fleetwood Mac I think. In a good way. The singers seemed to be singing strawberry letters to each other.
Hi Kevin. Oh, güd dogs. Get loved.

(hmm, i think Ida may be more Fleetwood Mac now than ever / with The Malarkies - whose "Perversity" was trooly great - as Buckingham Nicks. Rumors? haven't heard many. let's see: Karla Schickele's "Bad Day at Black Rock" was a, um, love song directed twards Austin Hughes of the Very Pleasant Neighbor [VPN?]. this is so terribly .. 10 .. plus years ago, i realize / "Are the Kings of Convenience the new Pozo-Seco Singers?" etc)

.. a-and always keen to pimp my webpage, here is, eh, DANNY KIRWAN REFERENCE OF THE DAY:

i personally believe that, eh, Ida still exists and that Ruth Keating is their drummer. given her powers, it's kind of a shame 'cause she could be KEITH FUCKING MOON - or William Hooker - in a different sonic environment.

website? yeah, sure, it is the one that Three Lobed Recordings founder Cory Rayborn is threatening to sue me over / a strange, strange thing, as the band records for Thrill Jockey, not Three Lobed ..

haha all right, yr site seems innocent enough, and serves a therapeutic purpose for you, if I remember correctly ...

Poked around, Littleton & Mitchell have also performed under th name Nanang Tatang, which means "mommy and daddy" in Tagalog (Littleton's half Filipino or something):

(It's an Ida song, basically)

y'know, I don't even like Ida that much outside of that one song, but there was something -- factors external to th music -- mebbe th intensity of my attention to music during th band's heyday -- an extra-shitty break-up, too -- that made them stick harder than expected. Did you ever read The War against Silence? That guy always connected Ida to Low, too. His prose tends to be too flowery for my taste, but I admired his willingness to expose his most personal reactions to music:

"These harmonies are the coalescence of my most tenuous and most optimistic theory about people, which is that loneliness and antagonism are intrinsically unstable states. I want to believe that this is what it sounds like when any two (or three, or ten) people sing together, that we hold ourselves apart from each other only by the most obtuse and concerted effort."

all Fleetwood Mac comparisons are good in my book, they're freaks and geeks

You have heard this, right? Hear it again anyhow:
