Block Nine

Last night my girlfriend and I went to see a play in Los Angeles called Block Nine.  It's a comedy noir, which is rare enough, but it also featured a same sex cast.  Eight women and romantic entanglements all over the place and they did not shy away from the sex.  The lead blond and red-head, especially, got to make out with most of the cast and it was HOT.

The plot was super quirky and fun and the actresses were fabulous.  We went on "Dames" night but they also have an all male cast for "Fellas" performances.  I'm almost tempted to go see the guy's version too but I don't have time as it closes on Oct 3.

It was really nice seeing same-gendered couples in a live performance.  It was by no means a coming out story.  Just a whole bunch of women who had the hots for the bad girls and weren't afraid to do something about it.

The ending left me a little, "what?", but since I can't come up with a different way it could have been done I'll let it go.  Heh.  I will say this, the dead people in the play were so freaking hilarious.  I was chuckling so much.

Another nice thing that I didn't actually expect was how mixed the audience was for the performance.  I was maybe one of two gay couples in attendance.  Everyone else appeared to be straight.  I was happy to see that it wasn't quite the niche audience that I was expecting.  I know it's still theater where a gay lifestyle is more accepted, but it made my heart happy to see how comfortable the audience was with all the lesbianism happening up on stage.  =D
