Among other things, I have been busy seeing plays this summer. Small plays, big musicals, free theater in the park... I'm pretty much for anything taking place on a stage. I love theater.
Gross & Indecent: A series of 1 acts written and rehearsed within 24 hours. Total zaniness and fun.
The Little Foxes: Period play. Intense, intense drama. Not my favorite as there was no real character to root for kind of like a Scorsese film.
The Tempest: Shakespearean comedy I had never seen performed. So I changed that by going to see it twice at the free "Shakespeare in the Park" held in Hollywood every summer. =)
iGhost: A staged reading of a brand new musical based off of a story by Oscar Wilde called Ghost of Canterville. Amazing cast and it has a lot of potential if they can get it to look right on stage.
Oleana: My first play at the Mark Taper! I'm still not sure how I feel about this play, especially the ending, but it was amazing to see Bill Pulman and Julia Stiles do there thing live and in person.
Hurricane Season: Short original plays in a playwright competition that is wrapping up soon. Allie was hilarious in hers.
Fiddler on the Roof: A classic. Topol was amazing as the father. So funny and such a unique voice. The first half is ridiculously long, but it was a fabulous production.
On the books for this week are The Roaring Girl and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Yay free theater!
