Band. What can I say. There are so many things wrong with it. Mr. Reed and all the Upper classman are always saying it will eventually pay off, but will it? I mean, come on, (Time for the blunt truth that I cant hold in anymore, so take a deep breath, dont take any of this too personal, and read on) our drumline sucks, and with Matt gone next year, we're doomed because noone else in the drumline is dedicated enough to care, there are people who dont give a crap about the marching, like Lia's little brother Aaron... he sucks he is always off step and doesnt march. Standing on the sideline today for not having my coordinates was actually helpful too me. I got to see everyone march as a whole, and not the usual few people who happen to be in front of me from set to set. People dont march straight-legged, but role step or walk. ANd I know this sounds like I am just echoing Reed's words, but these are actuall observations I have made. I am sure the drum majors know this, but they need alot of work. Talking with Kellee today after practice, after 1/3 of the band was in trouble, put all of this into perspective for me. Alot of the seniors dont care, but I guess it is an improvement over last year, where the whole senior class of band was slack... Where is the uniformity of the band when there are only three people counting during basics? We wont improve greatly, unless we get everyones 110% People dont care, and people arent trying. If you arent going to try, I say quit.
Another thing about band that gets me mad. Is the whole symphonic band issue. I am not as mad about not being in it as I am mad about certain people who are. Really, I could care less if I was in symphonic if he actually did it on skill. People like Matt Marcinko shouldnt be in symphonic, I dont care if Reed needs the instrumentation. Screw instrumentation. I think he should take people who deserve to be in it.
I actually really like all my classes. And I like all my teachers. This school semester is going to turn out the best so far... I hope
I hope I didnt sound like Reed at all, because after today, I really dont want to sound like him at all. But this is what I say because, getting nearly nothing at all of the competitions last year sucked. So lets get atleast one first?
