More Dishonored talk

I think I pulled a little ahead of you, orangerful, so you can't read all of this yet!! I'll let you know when it's safe ;)

First of all, I'm using this playthrough to pick up some of the Achievements I missed the last two times. So far I've managed to:

- Acquire 15 weapon upgrades
- Kill 4 enemies in less than 1 second with the crossbow
- Kill 5 characters with drop assassinations
- Kill an enemy using a Wall of Light (fun!)
- Pickpocket 200 bucks
- Kill Morgan Pendleton with steam (not sure how I killed him the other times then, lol)

Yay!

& I'm actively working on:

- Collecting all the Sokolov Paintings (3 more to go!)
- Kill characters with each weapon or offensive gadget (Just need explosive bullets!)
- Complete the game in High Chaos (obviously)
- Completing the Granny Rags & Slackjaw Missions (Not sure if I can do both in one playthrough but we will see!)
- Deactivating 5 security systems on Kingsparrow (once I get there)

Aside from those, these are what I have left, which I may or may not get to:

- Grab a live grenade and use it to kill an attacker (LOL HAHAHAHA WHAT?)
- Kill 6 enemies in less than 1 second (Doable! Got Bend Time upgraded to II, I'm ready to go. Trouble is finding 6 people close enough together at one time. I got the other one for killing 4 people by throwing rats on a guy and letting everyone come running to find out what was wrong, lol. Maybe I'll try it again.)
- Stay in possession of others for most of a 3 min. period (Got Possession up to II, but might need to Google it)
- Cause 5 unintentional suicides (Tougher! Will also need to Google)
- Finish game with no supernatural powers besides Blink (I tried this the last time I played. I didn't know this meant you couldn't UPGRADE Blink either :C It should be more specific.)
- Complete all missions after prologue without alerting anyone
- Complete all missions after prologue without alerting anyone or killing anyone except main targets
- Escape prison & navigated sewers undetected (I have a really hard problem with the prison! You blow up a door. HOW DO YOU AVOID DETECTION AFTER YOU BLOW UP A DOOR?? This stupid prison is holding me back from THREE ACHIEVEMENTS UGH.)

And now some more game ramblings. So the last time I posted I had only just gotten to the Hound Pits Pub for the first time, so there really wasn't much to talk about!

So, I've been wanting to keep my chaos high, so I've pretty much been killing everyone, but I've been doing it real quiet-like. It makes me feel a little better about what I'm doing when no one really notices me doing it. I also have that power that makes people turn to dust when you kill them without alerting them. SO IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, I'M NOT REALLY MAKING THE RAT PLAGUE WORSE, AM I, GAME??? Maybe if I was leaving bodies behind, BUT I'M NOT. So please take it back. Take the sads back. :((((((((

It makes it a lot easier to search places when literally every other character in the area is dead. So I'm finding a lot more money/runes/whatnot and discovering areas I hadn't been in before, so that's kinda neat.

And, let's see, right now, I've just gotten to the Flooded District so let me recap a bit.

For High Overseer Campbell, I pretty much did what I always do: kept up high and snuck in through the window by the interrogation chamber. I realize there are other ways in, but I don't really like them. I like my way, lol, even if it means not playing the game to it's ~full potential~. I also switched the glasses, so Campbell drank his own poison. HA! I like to do that and then hide under the table, so when he dies I'M THE LAST THING HE SEES. I also really like the non-lethal, branding option, but I enjoy the poison drinking a liiiittle bit more. Hehehe. And I saved Geoff Curnow. Had to knock him out with a sleep dart though cause he ran lol. SEE? I'M NOT A COMPLETE MONSTER.

The Pendleton's, I killed though. Even after Slackjaw offered me a nonlethal option, lol. Sorry, Slackjaw, but I need that Achievement! Still got him the safe code though... after I stole everything in it, ahahhaha. (I also did the Granny Rags missions earlier on. WOw she is crazy.) While I do prefer the idea of them working in their own mine, I needed to kill Morgan with steam so, whoops. I wish I could figure out a cooler way to assassinate Custis. It usually ends up happening with me running in and stabby stabbing him and alerting the girl he's with, who I then knock out and it's just so messy. Also, the Golden Cat is probably the area where I'm the least Princess Stabbity. I don't wanna kill any of the girls on accident!

And rescuing Emilyyyyy OH OW MY HEARTTT UGHHHAL;SFDJAFJ (More on this later!)

Getting Sokolov.... eh. I like the map a lot but compared to the others quest-wise, it's not that exciting.

I gave him the brandy when they were interrogating him back at the Pub though. I couldn't bring myself to release the hounds, so to speak. I'M NOT A MONSTER.

The Boyle's party is probably one of my favorite parts, for no good reason other than I don't have to sneak around, lol. AND I get to sign the guestbook lol. And I don't mind doing the duel for Pendleton. I mean, I did kill his brothers. I tried SO. HARD. to get the guy to shoot himself, but I couldn't get the timing right I guess. And when I used Bend Time and he fired the gun, it fired at normal speed and I still got hit by the dang bullet! :( It would've been awesome though. I keep trying to do that (Bend Time + Possession to get people to shoot themselves) but it never works out.

Anyway, this time the Boyle I needed was the red one, Esma. I found out who she was pretty early on, but didn't do anything about it until I went around and stole everything that wasn't nailed down and pickpocketed ALL THE MONIES. Choosing what to do with her is the hardest decision to make out of everyone you're sent after. Send her with the creepy guy or kill her? I honestly can't decide which is worse, because that guy is fucking creepy. So anyway, I go to talk to her, and basically flirt with her to get her alone upstairs and then BAM, ASSASSINATE. And then I go downstairs, eat ALL THE FOOD and peace out. It was still a preeeetty sweet party.

Back to the Hound Pits and then I'm off again! Finally, to deal with the Lord Regent. I actually had a much easier go of it this time than I have in the past, so that was a plus. I love re-wiring those big spotlighty things to kill people, lol. I didn't really do anything fancy to get in this time. I know once I possessed a fish! That was pretty cool. And omg inside, THAT ROOM WITH THE RECORDING AND THE LETTER FROM THE EMPRESS UGHHH WHYYY omg this ship just kills me. KILLS ME. I also got the recording for the "nonlethal" option, but uh, I'm totally killing this guy. HE'S CRAZY! HE BROUGHT THE EFFING PLAGUE TO GET RID OF POOR PEOPLE! WTF! So yeah, killed him. Showed him my face, too, CAUSE I WANTED HIM TO KNOW. And then I went back and played the recording anyway. (And, at this point, I've also been using Bend Time and then Blinking around and killing people while time is stopped. IT'S AWESOME.)

Back at the Hound Pits and they're celebrating, yay, but then DUN DUN DUN -- OF COURSE, I'M POISONED. OF COURSE. At least Samuel is a bro. And now I've woken up and I'm in the Flooded District with none of my stuff AND I HATE IT so that's about where I stopped.

Okay, so, Corvo and Emily. When I started, I thought Corvo was going to turn out to be kind of evil, what with all the rampant killings and stuff. But really, he's just become incredibly self-loathing and it's really depressing.

Up until Emily was rescued from The Golden Cat, he had already killed Campbell and the two Pendletons, and who knows how many dozens more while he was on those missions. (Not like he stopped to count.) He used to be a Protector, but now he's just a murderer AND HE HATES IT. But he keeps doing it. He doesn't need to kill every guard, but he can't help himself because he's still OVERCOME WITH GRIEF and not thinking all too clearly, apparently. And so he just hates himself a little bit. (Oh and I suppose it doesn't help that the heart is Jessamine and yeah, that makes him a little crazy.)

And then he rescues Emily, the one person left he cares about and who cares about him (because lets face it, even he realizes the Loyalists are just using him, though he never thought they'd go so far as to kill him.) And he needs/wants to protect her from all of this and keep her safe, but he just can't seem to do it anymore because he can't stop killing now that he's begun. It's like a compulsion to see all these people pay, even if they weren't directly responsible. It's a horrible downward spiral.

He distances himself a bit, thinking maybe Emily is better off that way. He listens at the door when she asks Callista if maybe her mother is still alive and what the funeral was like, and it just breaks his heart. Of course, he still sits by her side during her night terrors, and when one day he wakes up to find her in his room, he tells her she can stay there when ever she wants, because he really can't deny her anything. (SHE MIGHT BE HIS KID FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD.) But even still, there is a distance between them that has never existed before.

When he gets back from killing the Lord Regent, she's at the door to the Pub, waiting. "Did you kill anyone tonight? How many?" She sounds so cold, and it scares him. After sharing a drink with the Loyalists, he tries to talk to her, and she's saying some frightening things, about crashing ships full of people and making sure people are afraid so she doesn't have to be and he's like SHIT but at the same time, poisoned, and feeling awful and queasy and his head hurts and so he just goes upstairs feeling like shit all around and he passes out. Sometimes he wonders if Sam shouldn't have saved him, if he's better off dead, cause he's fucked everything up. The one thing he didn't want to happen to her, happens. And he feels like the worst kind of failure. :C UGHHHH THIS GAME. THIS IS THE WORST. :C
