Between orangerful being back and posting a ton, and the fact that, while I find tumblr endlessly amusing, it is not doing it for me in terms of conversation... I have decided to come on back to ol' faithful. Ol' reliable? Whatever. One of those. Or both ( Read more... )

Oh right! I forgot about that!

I don't know that I agree 100% with her that there are no good spirits (see Wynne's in Asunder) but yeah, Justice wasn't all sunshine & roses to begin with.

But omg. I was just reading her dialogue with him and

Anders: Maybe you don't really understand the difference between spirits and demons.
Merrill: Did I ask you?
Anders: Spirits were the first children of the Maker, but He turned his back on them to dote on His mortal creations.
Anders: The ones who resented this became demons, driven to take everything mortals had and gain back the Maker's favor.
Merrill: Your "Maker" is a story you humans use to explain the world.
Merrill: We have our own stories. I don't need to borrow yours.

And this bit

Anders: Do Dalish honestly not recognize the difference between demons and beneficial spirits?
Merrill: We've never thought of the Fade as the home of our gods.
Merrill: It is another realm, another people's home. No different or more foreign than, say, Orzammar.

Sorry I'm just a bit

right now. HOW AM I JUST REALIZING ALL OF THIS THREE YEARS LATER? I need a moment

You clearly need to spend more time with Merrill. Behind the whole naive and insane-obsession thing, she's way more put together than you'd think.

see Wynne's in Asunder

I wouldn't go so far as call that spirit good, because we know nothing at all about it. All it does it possess people who should have died and keep them alive, like some sort of parasite. It doesn't seem to take control ... but still. I'd need to know more about what it wants, what it thinks and why it does things before I'd go so far as tag it as good or evil.
