30 Days of Telly Meme - Day 1

Stolen from curuchamion. (With the disclaimer that I can't guarantee to post every day, but I will make 30 posts.)

Day 01 - A show that should never have been cancelled: Blake's 7

It wasn't meant to end with that episode. And I would have liked more. :-( Four seasons, I know, so it could have been worse, but I would have liked more. And I love that S4 ( Read more... )

Heh. Yes, it does. Shall I do the days in the wrong order? I want to do Day 17 today... I might just do that. Why not?

Oh, and btw, I got some really nice comments on my icons now, so thanks again. :-) (Don't worry, that's the last time I'll thank you for the same thing. ;-D)

Probably!

I think I'll stick to just messing up the days. Although maybe I should suggest it at the comm... Hmm. :-D (I have a picspam to do for 17. Sadly, it's not possible to do one for Mammoth Season. Hey wait, Mammoth Season wasn't cancelled, was it> *shock* Now, Deadline was, I know.)

*was too busy obsessing over own three shows to pay proper attention*

*cough*

I love the way it feels as though some of these shows are real in some sense at least. Lovely creative silliness!

Hey, this was just my answer to the first question. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head that fitted. :-)

You're going to hate it, and never let me forget it, aren't you?

Whoops, I keep forgetting you told me that. It must be because of going round trying to bully other people into watching it, too. *cough*

For something with a budget probably smaller than DW,

Did I ever share with you what I heard in a Terry Nation interview back in the 1980s? (I probably still have it on tape in storage, but it's sooo ooold now.) He said that, since their special effects budget pretty much consisted of shaking the scenery, they focused on characterization. Heh. I'm so glad they did, because that's one compelling series.

And they could remake it now, using the universe setting, but we can't have those characters back. (Or they might try that, but that would be bad, bad, bad.

Yes, it would be. I know that Paul Darrow (Kerr Avon) tried for years to get a revival going, but I don't want to see one now, because I wanted that particular cast.

Remakers of TV shows have to learn that the original cast do have something to do with the success of a series. Just a teeny, tiny bit.Yep. It's silly, but I was very fond of the cast of the original "Battlestar Galactica" all those years ago, though I never cease to hear what bad actors they all were, including ( ... )

You may have done, but it always bears saying again. And it's a wise choice anyway. Effects will date no matter what, but good storytelling and characterisation will always have an interest.

I think if they were going to use the B7 universe for a series, I would be interested, as long as it wasn't in anyone supposed to be the actual B7, or pretend that it didn't happen. And especially if they got Chris Boucher to write things! It was an interesting set-up and universe and it would be a nice hook for a new sf show. But, yes, not otherwise. The cast of B7 were just too good to even attempt it. Even before we start on everyone else, I don't think anyone else could ever be Avon! And who else could pull off those white outfits but Jacqueline Pearce? It's unthinkable ( ... )
