Day 01 - A show that should never have been cancelled: Blake's 7
It wasn't meant to end with that episode. And I would have liked more. :-( Four seasons, I know, so it could have been worse, but I would have liked more. And I love that S4

Did I ever share with you what I heard in a Terry Nation interview back in the 1980s? (I probably still have it on tape in storage, but it's sooo ooold now.) He said that, since their special effects budget pretty much consisted of shaking the scenery, they focused on characterization. Heh. I'm so glad they did, because that's one compelling series.
And they could remake it now, using the universe setting, but we can't have those characters back. (Or they might try that, but that would be bad, bad, bad.
Yes, it would be. I know that Paul Darrow (Kerr Avon) tried for years to get a revival going, but I don't want to see one now, because I wanted that particular cast.
Remakers of TV shows have to learn that the original cast do have something to do with the success of a series. Just a teeny, tiny bit.
Yep. It's silly, but I was very fond of the cast of the original "Battlestar Galactica" all those years ago, though I never cease to hear what bad actors they all were, including Lorne Greene. *shrug* No accounting for taste...

I think if they were going to use the B7 universe for a series, I would be interested, as long as it wasn't in anyone supposed to be the actual B7, or pretend that it didn't happen. And especially if they got Chris Boucher to write things! It was an interesting set-up and universe and it would be a nice hook for a new sf show. But, yes, not otherwise. The cast of B7 were just too good to even attempt it. Even before we start on everyone else, I don't think anyone else could ever be Avon! And who else could pull off those white outfits but Jacqueline Pearce? It's unthinkable.
I've never seen either Battlestar Galactica, but I sympathise. I don't know why TV makers think that the cast have nothing to do with things - it's like when US networks remake British shows. Sometimes there's good reason, and it comes off, but mostly it fails, simply because you needed the proper cast (e.g. Red Dwarf for one). Aw. All I know about Lorne Greene is that's where Lorne's name comes from in Angel.
And, I'm sorry, I've not been keeping up with your posts, and I meant to, cos I could see you weren't having the best time, to put it mildly. :-( I was around, but things got manic.
