Ch.12

“Where is he?!” his father barked.
“I…I… I don’t k-know,” Kazuya stuttered.
“Don’t lie to me!” his father kicked him aside, “I know he told you!”
“He d-di-didn’t t-tell me an-anything,” Kazuya mumbled.

Kazuya winced as his father pulled him up by his hair. Then, he was pushed against the wall. Kazuya closed his eyes and bit his lips to avoid yelling in pain. He could feel his old wounds opening again. He slid down. His father kicked him in the stomach. Kazuya flinched and curled up, trying to cover himself.

“Where did he go?!?” his father exclaimed.
“I don’t know, I don’t know!” Kazuya felt tears rolling down his face.

Hi father grabbed a handful of his hair again, forcing him to look directly at his father’s cold glare.

“Boy, if I find out that you’re lying,” his father hissed, “The punishment will be ten times worse.”

Kazuya nodded in understanding. He would never lie to his father just for the reason of knowing what the consequences would be. He doubted that he was even capable of lying to his father, but he wasn’t about to try.

His father pushed him aside like dirt and left the room. Kazuya flinched as he stared down at himself. It was too painful to move. Once he couldn’t hear his father’s footsteps, Kazuya slowly tried to move towards his bed. After managing to reach it and a few painful attempts on getting on the bed, he stopped and his eyes trialed to Tatsuya’s former bed. He smiled weakly, thinking what his cousin was doing after he ran away….

“I don’t know….he looked a bit shocked when I went to wake him up.”
“He probably just had a bad dream, why are you so worried about?”
“Something is brothering him though.”
“Don’t get mixed into his business, Jin.”
“But, doesn’t it brother you too?”

Kazuya bit his lips. He knew it was wrong to listen to other people’s conversion, but he couldn’t help it. He didn’t want to just walk into the kitchen as if nothing was wrong. After a couple of minutes, he decided to finally walk in. When Tatsuya, Ryo, and Jin saw him, they became quiet, which made Kazuya feel even more uncomfortable.

“Good morning,” Tatsuya broke the silence.
“Yeah….” Kazuya muttered.
“Do you want something to eat?” Tatsuya asked.
“A cup of rice would be good,” Kazuya replied, “I can get-”
“No, just sit,” Tatsuya said, standing up, “I’ll get it for you.”
“O-ok,” Kazuya mumbled, taking the empty seat next to Jin.
“How did you sleep?” Jin asked.
“Fine,” Kazuya replied, avoiding Jin’s eyes.
“So, Jin,” Ryo said, “Get any plans for today?”
“Pi has been bugging me about going clubbing with him,” Jin replied.
“So you’re going?” Ryo asked.
“Just to shut him up about it,” Jin smiled.
Ryo laughed.
“Here you go,” Tatsuya handed Kazuya a cup of rice.
“Thanks,” Kazuya mumbled.
“How about we go out today?” Tatsuya suggested to Kazuya.
Kazuya frowned, “Out?”
Tatsuya nodded, “You need some new clothes, so how about it?”
“Are you sure?” Kazuya asked, “I’m fine with the clothes I have.”
“Yes, I’m sure. The shopping district is close so why not?” Tatsuya smiled.
“If you said so….” Kazuya mumbled.
“Shopping!” Jin suddenly exclaimed, “I need that too!”
“Huh?!” Ryo looked at Jin.
“I need to get my mom a birthday present,” Jin said, “Can I come too?”
Tatsuya rolled his eyes, “There goes a day of fun.”
“Hey! I can be fun!” Jin glared at Tatsuya, “I am fun!”
“Yeah, yeah,” Tatsuya muttered.
“So, can I?” Jin asked.
“Sure,” Tatsuya replied.

Jin’s eyes trailed down Kazuya’s body as Kazuya stepped out of the changing room with a different pair of jeans. Kazuya blushed when he noticed the look Jin was giving him. He quickly looked at Tatsuya.

“What do you think?” Kazuya nervously asked Tatsuya.
“They look great,” Jin grinned.
Tatsuya hit Jin on the arm.
“Oww!” Jin rubbed his aching arm.
“What do you think?” Tatsuya asked.
“They’re a bit tight…” Kazuya mumbled, blushing at Jin’s comment.
“Ok, I’ll get you another pair. Try the shirt next,” Tatsuya said.

Kazuya quickly nodded and returned to his changing room. He could hear Tatsuya and Jin talking between themselves.

“What the hell was that about?” Jin asked.
“Don’t hit on my baby cousin!” Tatsuya hissed.
“I wasn’t hitting on him!” Jin replied, faintly blushing.
“We have known each other for a long time,” Tatsuya said, “I know when you’re hitting on people!”
“I was complimenting him,” Jin said.
“Just stop hitting on him,” Tatsuya replied, “That’s not what we’re here for.”

Kazuya stepped out, wearing his clothes. Tatsuya frowned at him as he walked closer.

“Let’s try another shop, ok?” Kazuya said.
“Fine, how about we get something for you mother, Jin,” Tatsuya suggested, “Then, you could leave us alone.”
Jin rolled his eyes.
“Well? What does she like?” Tatsuya asked.

They ended up walking into jewelry store. Jin started to walk around and look at all the necklaces and earrings.

“This one is pretty,” Kazuya mumbled, looking at one of the necklaces.

Jin looked down at the necklace Kazuya was talking about. It was a cherry blossom one. It wasn’t very big or the very detailed one, yet it looked prefect. Jin smiled and called over one of the workers to open the case it was in.

“It is pretty,” Jin said to Kazuya.

The worker handed the necklace for Jin to take a closer look at it. It didn’t take very long for Jin to say, “I’ll take it.” The worker nodded and took the necklace to get it wrapped.

“Thanks,” Jin smiled.
Kazuya blushed.
“I’m sure my mom will love it,” Jin said.
“No problem,” Kazuya quietly replied.
“Did you find anything?” Tatsuya walked to them.
“Yep! Thanks to Kame,” Jin replied, “They’re getting it wrapped up.”
“I’ll go wait outside,” Tatsuya said.
Jin nodded, watching Tatsuya leave, and then he turned to Kazuya again, “How about you’ll come with me on tomorrow when I give it to her?”
“W-what?” Kazuya frowned.
“Yeah, you’ll be able to see her reaction,” Jin smiled, “It’ll be fun.”
“But your family…” Kazuya gulped.
“So? They like meeting new people,” Jin replied.
“If it’s fine by them,” Kazuya bit his lips.
“Don’t worry about it,” Jin grinned.
