No pictures of the new apartment yet or for a while probably.

Sometime during my stay in Ireland a small gnat-like insect flew inside my camera body while I was changing lenses and made itself at home for a few days before I noticed it moving around in the viewfinder. I took off the lense, shook my camera around, and out flew the mischevious insect. I later found that it had left a small fecal present on the sensor that had been appearing in my pictures as little black specks.

Instead of paying a camera shop $40 to clean the sensor I decided to try to clean it myself. I bought some sensor cleaning swabs, but the only way to expose the sensor to cleaning is to take a 30 second exposure shot and try to clean it before the 30 seconds are up and the diaphram covering the sensor snaps shut. Unfortunately I didn't quite make it on one of my cleaning passes and the delicate diaphragm thing in front of the sensor got bent up pretty badly. Argh. It was sent off to the shop for repair, but who knows when i'll get it back. Sigh.

In the meantime though, I've been amusing myself by dangling a webcam out of my window to record the street view. I like that while I'm away at work I can still look out my window.
