Old sci-fi is interesting because while some of the more basic concepts are outdated (cold war fears, home and family life, etc), the prevailing goal, lesson or idea of the author remains.
In this book, parts of the stories are outdated, but the concept of humans taking over the earth, ruining it and then leaving it without dealing with the consquences or dying out are still relevant today.
