Dune by Frank Herbert
Going from my heavy books to Dune was rather enjoyable. I am glad that I finally know all the references people in my geek circles make (ie. "beer/fear is the mind-killer").
I found the idea of a whole group of people doing all they can for something they will never experience (Arrakis being a thriving planet) really neat. Still, the way the whole of the people got behind that one idea was to make a religion about it, which I don't think is a good thing in reality.
Anyway, good book. Classic Sci-Fi. Yay, me.
