Well we're in Fort Worth, Texas right now for the 2008 Extreme Mustang Makeover!!!
WHOOOOO!!!
It has been INSANE. We left KC, MO on Tuesday morning with the two mustangs in the trailer (they loaded right up!) and headed down to Texas. We arrived at 9:30pm! :P It was a reallllly looonnnnggg drive. Meh. We stayed at a bed and breakfast that had a barn, awww, and then took off the next morning at 9-something to go to the Will Rogers Coliseum, where all the real action would take place.
We got there at around 10:30 and spent TWO AND HALF HOURS unloading stuff from the truck (horse stuff and stall decorations, mostly) and getting the stalls ready for Buddy and Pirate. Then we unloaded the horses on this street with a TON of horses, trucks, trailers, people, and stuff on carts and wagons going everywhere. Pirate, of course, was very calm like she always is and just walked down the street just looking around so curious. Buddy was a little more nervous and seemed a little jumpy. But considering he'd never been anywhere else besides his home barn before this trip, he did amazing!
Pirate led the way to Buddy's stall. This barn is MASSIVE. I bet they've got a thousand stalls in there!!! There are a total of 356 mustangs here, so there were a lot of horses in there too! Pirate did fine with all the commotion... it was VERY busy. All 356 mustang trainers were there trying to get stuff unloaded and put away, not to mention the bobcats and gators rumbling down the aisles carrying all kinds of random things. Buddy startled a few times... he really didn't like the dumpster for dirty stall bedding... but he didn't bolt. Just jumped sideways. Heh.
We got him settled in his stall and then took Pirate to hers. Unfortunately they are on opposite sides of the very large barn. :(
Then we decorated their stalls (there was a contest, which unfortunately we did not win). I spent about four hours on Pirate's stall (we made a pirate ship, photos to follow soon!) and it looks really awesome even though we didn't win. At least it draws attention to her! The more people who look at her the better! There were some very very very awesome stall decorations! Mom went to a trainer meeting while I decorated, then we decided to take the two horses to the huge arena to show them the obstacle course they'd have to go through on Thursday.
Pirate did perfectly, she went over everything and went right into the trailer. Buddy did all the obstacles but it took us awhile to get him in the trailer. Once he went in once though, he went in easily consistantly after that. So that was nice. All things considered Buddy did just GREAT. He even had to walk through a scary underground tunnel with a huge puddle of water to get to the arena! And he didn't spook once!!
Okay, I've gottta go now... we've got to feed and run to the Cowgirl Museum before the fun stuff starts today. I'll continue the update later....
