Hi everyone! I've missed hanging around these parts, but it's been a busy and good few weeks since I've last posted. I've been taking a class at my local community college about what I want to do when I grow up! Well okay, not really. It's more about discovering what is the most meaningful way to live my life at this point. Since my son is needing less and less of my time as far as homeschooling goes, I've been looking at how I'm moved to use my particular skills and energy. And while I love writing stories, I began to feel an urge to look deeper and wider. This quote from Buckminster Fuller expresses perfectly what I've been feeling:
"I look for what needs to be done. After all, that's how the universe designs itself."
So this class is all about discovering how to use our talents and skills to tap into what needs to be done in each of our lives. For me, the past five and a half years has been to direct and support my son's education. Lately, I've been drawn to help my community and the planet. I began to realize, hey, I can write and research, and voila: a blog about eating and buying local was born. Who knows where it will go. But for next week's class, our homework is to write a vision statement. The top things in my vision are: being with family and friends, helping my community, finishing my novel and book of short stories.
Now that's a lovely vision. How about you all. What's your vision?
