Book Reviews:Living Dead in Dallas/Club Dead

I am officially a rabid fan of the Sookie Stackhouse novels!!!  That is why I have to write 1 review for two books- I'm reading them faster than I can stop and reflect!!! ^_^`

Living Dead in Dallas-   Sookie is recruited to help a coven in Dallas locate a missing vampire.  This is book 2 of the series, and it's even more entertaining than the first book!!!  I really don't want to say much about the plot because I don't want to ruin it for the people who have yet to read the first one, but it touches a little more on vampire politics and who their enemies are.  There's a brief introduction to werewolves and a special appearance by a maenad!

Club Dead-  In book three, Sookie must locate vampire boyfriend Bill, who has been kidnapped.  Sookie is allied by vampire Eric and a werewolf, Alcide.  This book dives even deeper into the vampire world and incorporates shape shifters and werewolves with more depth than the previous two novels.  Much to my dismay, Sookie discovers a betrayal that will break her heart.

Why am I so obsessed with these books all of a sudden?  I haven't been so giddy about vampires since Anne Rice was publishing novels from the Vampire Chronicles left and right!  The characters are well rounded and well developed and the storyline flows smoothly.  There's plenty of comical moments, yet serious when it needs to be.  It does a wonderful job of combining several different genres into one spectacular world!  Romance is there, but it isn't a perfect romance (which makes it all the better). Packed with supernatural elements, mystery, romance, quick wit and of course, vampires- it's a series that keeps you on your toes!

I honestly haven't found anything to complain about yet after the first three books.  I have very high hopes for book 4 and beyond!!!  I think there's like 11 volumes now.  I must own them all!!!!
