Finally joined the gaming generation and bought a Wii (from Kathy who is still trying to scalp them for a little bit of money). This joins my NES, SNES and Sega game consoles, so I'm definitely behind the times. Of course, having made the financial decision to get a Wii, I have to get into it full throttle and have investigated accessories and games, etc. And having got it, immediately started yearning for a Wii Fit. Afterall, my mental justification for getting a Wii is that it offers some measure of physical activity. Naturally, the Wii Fits are in short supply but Kathy knows how to track the elusive products down and we found availability at a Target Wednesday. She snagged an extra Wii Fit and a console to see if she can sell them as a package.
So....the Wii Fit is amazingly fun. And it tracks your weight and every minute of exercise so that I feel much more active than I was three days ago. It's probably somewhat delusional but anything that gets me off the couch can't be all bad, right? I'm reminded of when I bought my first VCR back in 1983, on sale for $399 at Montgomery Wards. I also bought a used VHS of the Jane Fonda Workout for $68. All in the name of saving money by exercising at home instead of paying for Jazzercise three times a week which at the time was getting more and more crowded so that it was becoming difficult to extend your arms without knocking into people around you. Naturally, all that purchase did was stop me from going to Jazzercise but I still have the Jane Fonda Workout tape, damnit!
Anyway, I've already put more exercise time on the Wii Fit than I ever did with my Jane Fonda, so I'm ahead of the game. Plus the Wii and Wii Fit together cost less than what I paid for that long ago VCR and video.
Wii Fit Day 3 has just begun but I already have 21 minutes logged on the console because I did exercise after midnight and added about 7 minutes this morning. So far so good....
