Witchaven is a "grove" located a little south of Auckland. Their website is www.witchaven.co.nz. The mailing list is worth getting on as it will have information about NZ seasons and the workshops that Witchaven runs, which are worth going to and very reasonably priced. I haven't done any of the courses. Yvette and Brendan are very helpful, balanced, and are good people to know. They are also significantly involved with FODA - Fellowship of Druids Aotearoa - which is loosely based around the OBOD system. Witchaven has a Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Witchaven/.
The biggest and most consistent gathering in Auckland is The Grove Of Magic, held at Firestar's place in Auckland. This is a social/open ritual group with a lot of supportive people. It follows a usual bring a plate formula. Their open rituals often have some unique creative elements to them which make them interesting and enjoyable, and they'd be suitable for a beginner.
Damn, I forgot to mention the Grove of Magick's contact address is - the_grove_of_magick@yahoo.co.nz
I've been writing the URLs in full in case you copied and pasted. And for those not from NZ, "Aotearoa" is the widely accepted Maori name for the country, which is often used by people here. Partly to do honour to them, I guess, but also because it's a beautiful name.
Wooh! Thank you *very much* for all this info. I'll forward everything to the lady. Now, isn't it cool to know people from all over the world? I do think so! :)
