Finished my script!

Feb 14, 2007 14:09

On the subway on my way to school today, this guy comes over and sits by me and starts talking to me, like, "Hey how have you been?" And I'm just like "Good..." thinking he's nuts, and thinking I'll get off at the next stop and switch cars. And then he mentions JCS, which was my elementary school, so I realize that he actually knows me, but I still can't place him. Then he finally interprets my balnk look correctly and just tells me who he is. And then I was like "OMG! I so did not recognize you!" Which he had already realized, of course. He's gotten much chunkier since grade 8. We were totally antagonistic when we were in school together, but we chatted on the subway like we were old friends. It was kinda cool actually.

In other news, I finished the script for the pilot episode of the TV series

blueanddollsome and I are developing. Yay! It's probably gonna get a couple more rewrites, but I'm pretty darn happy with it. The premise is, the goddess Diana has had a serious falling out with her father. Bereft of her supernatural powers, but aided by an Oracle with a vendetta against Zeus, they come to Toronto, hoping to hide until they can find a way to kill him, but he's not far behind. Diana has to swollow her pride and live as a human if she wants to stay free, but the surprisingly large and active supernatural community in Toronto makes it difficult for her to be "normal." It's a story about tolerance, identity, friendship, and learning to be human. I'd really like to get as much feedback on it as possible, so I'm thinking of putting it on here in a locked post, if anyone would be interested in reading it. (ETA: the characters and concept of the show are copyrighted by us, and that if anyone steals it, WE WILL HUNT THEM DOWN AND SUE THEIR ASS TO KINGDOM COME!!!)

Also, here's something I got from
stewpotc:

"It's a list of IMDB's Top Ranked Movies, you put an X beside the one's you've seen. At the end of each "section", give the total of how many X's you have so far. Best you can do is 250!"  I got 118.

I was raised on moives. My mom had a Columbia House membership and got all the classics. We also used to watch Saturday Night at the Movies with Elwy Yost on TVO, and during the summer we would sometimes rent 7 movies a week. Going through this list, I started remembering fondly of all the movies I've seen, so then I had to add in notes and commentary for some of the movies I''ve seen...

(X) The Godfather
() The Shawshank Redemption
(X) The Godfather: Part II
(X) The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
() The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
(X) Casablanca - Haven't seen it? See it. Now. Drop whatever you're doing and see it now. There's a very good reason the AFI (American Film Institute) ranks Casablanca as the second greatest movie ever made, next only to Citizen Kane, and Humphrey Boggart as the #1 screen legend (male) of all time: This movie ROCKS! And the more you watch it the more you love it. It's got romance, violence, intrigue, Nazis and dialogue that's witty as hell. Peter Lorre has a stand-out performance in a bit role. The "duel of the songs" scene kicks ass; I challenge you not to cry when Rick's band stikes up "La Marseillaise." Captain Renault is my hero. When the old movie house in my neighbourhood closed down this summer, Casablanca was the last film they screened. I went to see it, and watching it in a theatre packed full of other movie lovers was just an awesome experience.
