So I haven't really figured out a good way to put that title together. You guys know what I mean though.
What can I say about this year's Podcast of the Year? I started the year listening to quite a few podcasts, including probably the most well known podcast of all, This Week in Tech (TWiT), but by the end of the year, I found myself only listening to this one every week when it came out.
Wow's 2006 Podcast of the Year:
The CAGCast.
RSS Feed The two hosts are your average late-20/early-30 geeks, both married and juggling their hobby of video games with their real lives. CheapyD, is the owner of the site Cheapassgamer.com, which helps us all find cheap video game deals. While well-known forum member Wombat is the co-host. The two spend about half the show discussing video game news/deals/reviews/etc, and that stuff has really improved over time, as they're become more and more recognized (CheapyD was on the cover of the Wall Street Journal a few weeks back, and is a corrospondent for Bloomberg now for Video Games), making their stories much more "inside" then when the podcast started.
The other half of the podcast... well... it's about whatever comes to mind...
Robocop? Check
Big Ass Chains? Check
Thai Whores? Check
What isn't there to love about it?
The CAGCast comes out generally once a week, but neither of the hosts does this for much more than recreation so there are sometimes two-week breaks depending on their schedules.
As someone who has listened as the show progressed from its first six minute episode till the hour and half triumph that is now, trust me when I say: Give it a listen, I'm sure you'll be entertained, even if you don't love videogames as much as I do.
