Yes, that's right folks, I made it out of AP Calc alive. I'm not dead from exahustion, and for the most part am able to form coherent sentences (although on the last problem of the test I did write a 3 backwards, whoops). It was very nice to come home and not have to cram for an exam the next day, merely put in some light studying for AP US on friday (the cramming for that comes thursday night of course). And then the SAT on friday, but after all these APs that will me more like a much needed cooldown than anything.
So, (yes you knew it was coming) I played the trumpet today. Note this means that I did not practice the trumpet, but merely played what I wanted to, when I wanted to, and for how long I wanted to. It was quite relaxing, and a nice way to soothe myself after Lang and Calc.
In other news, I have a minor tangent to go on about movie director Darren Aronofsky, director of Requiem for a Dream and Pi. In Aronofsky there is a director that can create a truly intense movie watching experience. Unlike some directors however who get the credit for what their screenwriters do, Aronofsky creates this entirely though his skill with portraying human emotions, usually pain, through camera work, montages, apporpriate music, etc. There was one scene in Pi (which I will not describe in detail so as not to ruin the movie for those who might wish to see it) where I almost couldn't watch it. Not because the images were particularly grotesque, or scary, or anything like that, just this indescribable feeling of overwhelming intensity. My only minor reservation about Aronofsky is that he has yet to produce a large-budget flick, and prove that he can handle the added funds without descending into a special-effects crazed madness (see: original 3 Star Wars vs. Prequels). We will, thankfully, find out come December 31 with the release of "The Fountain" (
IMDB Link) starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz.
