So you think '21 is gonna be a good year...

So here we are in 2021.  Things remain mostly locked down, though I will be returning to work tomorrow, in person, to a point.  I'll be in the building, but teaching Theatre classes from a studio remotely, rather than going to each and every classroom as the predicted spikes of COVID rage on.

It's been a most welcome change for me to be reassigned from teaching Theatre every other day and subbing every other day to teaching Theatre 5 days a week at a higher per diem rate.  I've received a couple of glowing recommendations from the parents of some of my students and I'm told that the principal has received even more than that.  It's gratifying to be seen as actually good at something, for a change.

Personally, I find myself losing more and more interest in social media.  There's so much needless drama, so much derision and so much nonsense that it's nearly mind-numbing.  It's as if everybody is screaming into the ether, "Look at me!" every fifty seconds.

I'm also remaining solidly monastic, though I have joined a few dating sites.  I'll admit that I've mostly done so for the feeling of power that comes from rejecting person after person.  The energy I get off of their profiles just doesn't grab me.  Maybe I've grown up enough to not care about the allure of sex.  I certainly am not interested in taking on the problems of other people.  I have enough of that just by myself.  There's nobody I particularly want to tie myself to and I'm quite happy belonging solely to myself :)

Still working on trying to get my last materials together in a desperate bid to get certified as a Theatre teacher.  We'll see if I can pull all that by end of year...
