So... Where I live, at about this time of year, there's a tradition (now in its third year,) that the World League Wrestling federation comes in and puts on a show. I missed the first one (not having been there for it,) but I did like what I saw in the second.
Then came this year. I won't bore the readers with petty details, but suffice to say that, of the five matches, two of them were palatable. The others were just plain bad.
One of those matches involved a tag-team match, using two local amateurs from this area. That's right, two people that have been wrestling for all of four weeks were more entertaining than those who do it for a living. That was, perhaps, the worst part.
No, I take that back. You see, another one of the traditions of this event is that there's a 'big name' wrestler that stars as the guest. Last year it was Mick Foley ('Mankind,' for you WWE fans,) and the year before was Harley Race (the owner of WLW.) This year it was none other than the 'Macho Man' Randy Savage.
Who did nothing but talk. It was disappointing, really: the guy hasn't aged well at all, and decided to wear plain black leather instead of the... er... 'vivid' ring attire that he wrestled in. All in all, I was quite disappointed in his non-performance.
I will admit, though: the local Tae Kwon Do/Karate/so-forth-and-so-on 'Xtreme Team' wasn't too bad; some of them were quite good, actually. It's a shame that none of them were over the age of eighteen. *sighs*
