Dear Yuletider,
So you should have recieved my requests by now and I hope they've not caused you to throw yourself into a pit wailing and rending your clothes. Don't panic and if all else fails - reach for your towel (you did remember to bring a towel, didn't you?). Ok - enough, enough. I hope that something I've suggested will give you a grain of inspiration, but if not don't worry - I love surprises as well - and what I'd really love is for you to write something that makes you happy and is fun for you - don't worry too much about me.
OK - so in case it helps some of the things I love - bittersweet sad stories, fluffy stories, fun, adventures, gangs, friends, silliness, AUs, queer themes, extra moments, character moments, post-canon, old 'married-couple' friendship bickering, dreamers and fantasists, manipulative characters with secret soft spots, timeline crossing, awesome women, mixed up narratives, found families, what ifs. Genfic, slashfic, femmeslashfic and hetfic are all loved - though I must admit recently my heart has belonged to poly-relationships where everyone loves each other, even if in different ways.
Things I'd prefer not to have - graphic sex/smut, character bashing, woman/queer characters dieing.
But mostly, anything goes.
I hope you have fun - and please feel free to quiz me anonymously here if you'd like more info on anything or through the yuletide mods.
You're awesome.
ETA: Whups, forgot to include my requests for the curious:
Fandom 1 - Mikhail and Vyacheslav Durnenkov - The Drunks
Characters - Any
Details - Know this is a pretty rare play - so here's a download link for an audio of the RSC production:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/y1v451 A quick description is that a Russian soldier is injured and as he returns home his world spirals into a weird, fantastical wonderland full of crazy people. It's very funny, quite odd and full of twisty cleverness (I wrote a post about what I really liked about it here -
http://lorannah.livejournal.com/48498.html) I'd love something about the Dinosaur Club as teenagers before Ilya going off to war - particularly anything looking at the gender and/or sexual experimentation - between Kostya being transexual (and the awesomest winner of them all) and Sergey being a closeted homosexual. Or even more about the Dinosaur Club during the play (or in an au maybe after) - I love Ilya, Sergey and Kostya dearly - though should say, that my preference is for a Kostya who is out for herself, but will help the rest of the Clubbers if she can. Or any story about Kotomstev and the Mayor being ridiculous and horrible at each other would be great as they are insane. Though to be honest I would love absolutely anything people wrote for this
Fandom 2 - The Boat That Rocked
Characters: - any
Details:- One of the things I most love about the film is the slightly ridiculous, gang of friends, all in this together mentality. And the silliness, of course. Would love to see anything about the gang after the boat sank - particularly seeing where they're all ended up in the 70s would be awesome, big reunion would be a bonus. Or really anything playing with that friend dynamic during their time on the boat would be great. Or something looking at how Simon (I love Simon!) gets ridiculous man crushes on everyone would be fun. Anything goes really. Het, Slash, Femslash, Gen - everythings fantastic.
Fandom 3 - Shakespeare - Twelth Night
Characters:- any
Details:- Would really love something looking at Antonio's feelings for Sebastian (I'm always sort of fascinated by that three month period where it's just the two of them together) or generally looking at how maybe the pairings/sexual and gender identities weren't all worked out by then end. I have huge soft spots for Olivia/Viola and Antonio/Sebastian/Orsino as relationships go. Though gen would be just as loved. Sad or happy stories equally welcome as I love that the play mixes both so well.
Fandom 4 - Shakespeare - Othello
Characters:- Desdemona/Emilia
