Blast from the past

I am still without a job, so far.  It's rough, but I keep looking.

In funnier, more positive news, I recently participated in an amusing conversation on Facebook.  As a rule, I don't allow current students to be my friend on Facebook, but once I left that job, I accepted former students as friends (some of them.  There are some I just don't feel comfortable allowing in like that).  And I never added them, I waited them for add me.  Sometimes I regret adding them, because it's like I never asked them to spell correctly.  Sigh.  Anyway, with that disclaimer in place, here's how it went (All names have been changed):

Marsha: Honestly I will never use Macbeth in my life. Why do I have to learn about it.

(Then there are a few students complaining about British Lit, the class I used to teach, when the next student jumps in.)

John: because it teaches u abt other cultures and how to learn from ur own mistakes.. read between the lines dumba** :) haha. kids now days just have no respect for old world literature, shamefull

Me:  Marsha and Chris, you're breaking my heart. Breaking my heart! John? You are officially my favorite.

Marsha: Haha well maybe if you were teaching it it would be a bit more enjoyable Ms. May :)

John:  ms. may i must say u where by far the cooliest lit. teacher i ever had :). all those new kids dont know what they missed out on.. i mean who else could find a way to make coolio's gangster paradice into a cool project? nobody thats who :P lol

Me:  Awww. I feel the warm fuzzies

Monika:  Guys! Macbeth is awesome!
'I dare do all that may become a man; Who dares do more is none.'
I love that quote!!
Shakespeare was such a genius!

Shelly (who is now majoring in education in college):  So I've been seeing all these people complaining about Brit Lit and I have to agree that it would have been much, much better if you guys would have had the RIGHT teacher...
Just sayin' :]
...I did. And look at what I'm going to college for....
Thanks Ms. May :]

Sniff!  It brings a tear to my eye.  Now I just have one question:  How can I bring this up in an interview?

teaching, i love my life, amusing
