(no subject)
Well after my freak out after seeing the hospital on the first day, I have actually had a really excellent week. I have got to do so much stuff - injections, BSL's (checking diabetic's blood glucose), medications, and I have just learnt so, so much. I have even got a little pocket notebook which I write down all the new words or meds I see then I go home and look them up, nerd alert lol. But yeah I am really enjoying it. The patients are mostly old but most of them have come from home anyway, rather than a rest home, so they are still pretty independant and with it so I can have lots of chats to them. A lady died on me yesterday which was quite freaky though. She had been chainstoking all day (which is when they breathe very slowly and deeply before they die) then my nurse buddy and I went in to change her and give her a wash, and we rolled her over and she did a sneeze-like thing and then she just didn't breathe again. It was an extremely weird feeling, especially because she was naked when she died and we had to keep dressing her. I was okay but its just the weirdest thing to be with someone when they die and they're not breathing its bizarre. I don't think its a feeling I will ever get used to.
Anyway in other news.. well I don't think there is actually much other news. Things have been really excellent with Ben this week but the sucky thing is that because I have been working until 9.30, I go to his after work and climb into his bed and we talk for like an hour then go to sleep so even though I have stayed there every night I have hardly seen him. I'm really looking forward to this weekend so I can hang out with him.
I don't really have any plans for this weekend, tonight one of the girls from course Brylee is having drinks but I don't know if I'll go, because I'm at the hospital until 9.30 so by the time I go home and get ready it will be a bit late. Tomorrow night I am supposed to be going ten pin bowling with the nursing girls but no one seems to have organized it yet. I might get on to it. No drinking this weekend anyway because I have been too drunk lately and also its my sisters 18th next weekend and she is having a bus trip so much alcohol will be consumed there.
Well I'm going to pop around to the shops I think. I really want to buy a cheap bike, I have been wanting a bike for ages and now Ben has a bike so I want to get a bike and go for a ride thru Bottle Lake forest this weekend. So hopefully I can get one.
